You pass this cemetery on the way to Point Loma and the Cabrillo Monument. As you drive along, you see the massive military cemetery overlooking all of San Diego. It was started as a burial place for those soldiers lost in the Mexican American War started to annex Texas and California in the 1840s. It is interesting to see all... More

You can't miss this cemetery as you drive into Point Loma, as the road intersects it and on both sides of the road you side row upon row of pristine white marble markers. The numbers are staggering! It is truly beautiful and yet so very sad. The view from this hilltop cemetery is spectacular. Well worth a short stop!

To preface this- we didn't do much research on our way to Cabrillo Monument and when we 'stumbled' upon the cemetery we were so taken aback! Living in Arlington, VA, this was a gorgeous sight with an impressive ocean backdrop. Loved driving around the cemetery and saw some really beautiful birds while we were there too!

I have visited National Cemeteries across the country but this one is the most impressive. Good for photography or just meditating.

My father & mother in law are both interned here so we often visit this cemetery. They've recently planted new grass and with the recent rain, the place is very green. The ocean is on the west and the harbor on the east side. Great place for photographers. Very peaceful, especially during mid day when no one is around. Very... More

This cemetery is on the way to Cabrillo National Monument. You literally cannot miss it if you are heading that direction because the cemetery will be on both sides. One side faces the ocean while the other side faces downtown San Diego. Driving through here is breathtaking. It very much reminded me of Arlington. The grounds were immaculate.

A beautiful sight, huge impact of the setting by the sea. Worth going to see, even if the fog rolls in.

It is very humbling to see all of the grave markers and know they are for the amazing individuals who gave their lives for my freedoms. Thank you to all who have served and are currently serving in our military!

Don't drive by without parking your vehicle and walking through this humble area. Very interesting and thought provoking.

I stopped briefly to view from the gates while bike riding to & from Point Loma. It seemed well kept and is a very solemn place.
