I have a soft spot for Ocean Beach. My son and grandson live there so there's that. But beyond that, it's just a very comfortable, friendly and typical little California beach town. To say it's a bit hippie-ish would be an understatement. If you're a baby boomer, it will take you back. There's not a ton of things to do but... More

It gets really cold around sunsets! But the view was gorgeous with the piers. You can see a lot of hippies at the beach and around the area. Many great restaurants nearby! I ate at a BBQ house, and their wings and mashed potato were phenomenal.

Visited several beaches this trip and this beach was the least fun. We set up and went into the water and the life guard came out and told us to move because of the Jr lifeguard program. ok we moved past where he told us to go. got the second spot and we were told to move again. ughgh! Got... More

So staying at a place a few blocks away from the beach, between the pier and Dog beach, it's busy, parking a hassle, and it's OB. Pretty laid back, the usual street urchins, a line at Hodads. I never felt unsafe, we walked everywhere we wanted to go with no issues, and the beach is pretty good. Surf was aplenty... More

OB is usually very busy and crowded. It's nice to lay out in the sun and take a dip and people watch. The walk down the pier is cool and there's lots of great places to eat and drink nearby

When the "Farmers' Market" on Wednesdays is in session Ocean Beach is a scene out of the sixties. If you have ever wondered what happened to hippies, a good portion of them must be hiding out here. Actually, it is more of a Flea Market than a true Farmers' Market. There are a few produce vendors, of course, but there... More

I never leave Ocean Beach and its antique shops without financially adding to their profits. The vintage wares and true antiques always spark my imagination for decor ideas. My favorite shop is Vignettes which at Christmas had a gorgeous tree involving a big Eiffel Tower. Bridal antiques of all sorts were featured in another display; I can't wait to see... More

Ocean Beach is a great place to relax and people watch. There are several really good places to eat. The pier is a great place to watch the surfers. Wednesday evenings there is a farmers market with live music. Loads of antique shops along Newport Ave. You will want to come back many times because of how relaxing and fun... More

This is a great beach for walking, people watching and just relaxing with friends and family along the ocean. The boardwalk is awesome and if you want to stop for food and drinks it's all there for the taking. This place is the place to just sit back and enjoy!

This location is the best kept secret of all the beaches. You'll love the old beach look, the community, and the special shops and dining options. Whether you want hang out or fancy, OB is the spot. The area has more privately owned places than commercial. Wonderland Ocean Pub. 5083 Santa Monica Ave is the best for view. Great prices,... More
