Our family sailed for two hours with Captain Allan and he was professional, extremely knowledgeable about sailing and narrated the harbor and surroundings. The boat was clean and all safety procedures were explained. I recommend this tour for a small group sail with a top notch captain and company.

We booked this trip on the spur of the moment when my mom said “I’d like to try sailing, it looks so peaceful.” So I quickly looked sailing tours up online and called the company. Because I use a wheelchair I’ve learned to always call - sometimes people are totally helpful and chill and other times people are clearly hesitant and terrified sounding. This group was so great, said they’ve done it plenty of times before, asked reasonable and respectful questions, and said it’ll be no problem. Captain Allen was very knowledgeable and talked about the history, all about the maritime lifestyle, and boating community in San Diego. It was a beautiful day and lived up to the hype of being so peaceful!!! Mom was pleased, said it was the highlight of the trip.

Everything about our experience with San Diego Sailing Tours was FIVE STARS! We put our sailing adventure together just a few days in advance. Our RSVP headcount changed a few times and each time I called to update / ask questions about this detail or that...Kyle and Damian were both very professional, patient, and friendly.
Their team made it easy to book a family/birthday afternoon sail for our group of twelve!
And Captain Allan was an incredible guide. His knowledge of sailing and San Diego was beautifully captured in his anecdotes. He had the perfect balance of sharing facts and local history mixed with quiet time to allow us to chat w/each other and to just appreciate the beauty of being on the water. That is an art!
We enjoyed every minute and will definitely be back for more sailing adventures with San Diego Sailing Tours! Thanks for a great afternoon sail!

Captain Allan is great! He has a clear passion for what he does (been sailing since he was 11!) and is extremely knowledgeable about the area. We were able to set sail a bit early and get some additional time on the water, and the sunset was breathtaking. Definitely a great experience.

In late March we attended a silent auction fund raising dinner sponsored by SDSU students working to bring nutritional fresh fruits and vegetables to low income families. We bid $300 on a 2 hour sailing tour for 6 people donated by San Diego Sailing Tours. We were the highest bidder. I called their office, spoke with Corey who had arranged for this donation, and we scheduled our tour for sometime in June. The trip had to be reschduled as one of our group member's mother passed away. We called the office again and Corey said no problem (this was weeks before we were scheduled to depart) and we set a new date. This date had to be rescheduled again due to a member getting Covid but, once again, they had several days notice. Our new tour date was yesterday at 1pm. At noon yesterday I received a call from the owner saying we had never paid for the trip to which I explained that this had been a donation to a charity. His response was that we should have been charged for both rescheduled dates AND owed him sales tax. I have never paid sales tax on a donation! It was going to cost us $284 more dollars for our 2 hour cruise. He said that Corey had been fired for embezzlement. I do hope he takes Corey to court and am sympathetic to his financial problem, but a businessman has to take responsibilty for their employees actions on the job. We declined to go sailing yesterday, having a bad taste in our mouths by this shake down. It's okay...we made a donation to a worthwhile charity. As a long time resident of San Diego County, we have arranged for many adventures on the bay for visiting friends and family. Pretty sure we won't be using this particular outfit.

As visitors from Ohio one of our top goals was to experience a San Diego sail. We couldn’t have asked for a more knowledgeable and skillful tour guide than Captain Alan. He is a gracious host and knows San Diego Bay inside and out. His sailing resume is impressive and we would definitely recommend anyone reading this review to see if he is available.

Went out on a private charter with Captain Terry with 11 people. We had small kids with us as well. Everything was great, the trip was awesome and Terry was a great skipper, even letting the kids steer the boat some. I highly recommend going with San DIego Sailing Tours. This was our second trip through them, and we will go back.

Beautiful day of sailing and our Captain Sal was wonderful. We all enjoyed this very special day for us. We were a large group and locals to San Diego. Packaged snacks were offered and we brought our own snacks as well. Had a great day. The real drawbacks had to do with the price and the boat. The boat was old. For the price paid, which was a lot…the boat for a large private group should have been a lot more sleek and glamorous. There were lots of add ons; per person over 6 people there was a fee, and of course the tip. We are experienced sailors and had a great time. Just will look for more cost effective companies and newer fleet next time.

Terry was the best we could have asked for. He was amazing with my kid, so much fun, great tour guide. Never seen some one dock a boat with such precision. Nice to be off the romantic circuit and discuss the Naval sites. My son had the time of his life. If we ever go back, I will 100% request Terry. He gave us an amazing night we will never forget.

We sailed with Allen on 4/5/21 and were not disappointed. We learned so much about the history of San Diego, how and why it looks the way it does, the military, different boat styles and exciting things to do. It was evident he loves what he does and he truly made our afternoon enjoyable.

Thank you for your interest. We take a maximum of 6 passengers on each of our boats. If you have more than 6 passengers, typically we divide up the group and place them on two different boats.
