We have a California State Park annual pass, and while our favorite is Torrey Pines, the other facilities in San Diego covered by the pass are wonderful places. We like beach walking, but a visit to South Carlsbad would find a very family friendly place to frolic on and off the beach.

Booked a June campsite back in December of last year. First time at campground for the family. Got a site away from the bluff. Did not know we would be so close to the street. You can hear cars driving up and down Carlsbad Blvd. all night. Bathrooms and showers cleaned and maintained. $1.00 gets you two shower tokens. 2... More

Very clean large camp sites. Great location to the beach. It is worth the extra $ to stay on the ocean side. Reservations a must and don't expect to check in before 2:00. The beach is narrow and only accessible by stairs. Had clean bathrooms and token showers. Would recommend this park if your wanting easy access to the beach... More

It's a nice quiet beach but it's smaller than the others and not a lot of extras tourists usually like which is probably why it's not so crowded. It is also a great place to see some beautiful sunsets.

Came with family to see the sunset and amazing views and climb the overlook bluff. Great views and welcoming strangers meet at the tranquil location.

Ugh. This place is the worst beachside campground I've ever been to, and I've been to quite a few all over the country. I actually was expecting more from California. It's "beachside" so that is a plus but about the only one. The spots are super close together, the facilities are quite disgusting, the campground attendees are rude (but I... More

Great location to camp along the Pacific Coast. We had a great week with friends as we had several sites that held several class A, class B motor homes, a 38 foot fifth wheel and our travel trailer. Camping in April can have rain yet we had excellent weather. We rode our bikes in the campground, to Starbucks and the... More

We stay here a few times a year. Always have a great time. The view is awesome and a lot of times you can see whales right off the beach. Beach side sites are the way to go. These sites fill up real fast so make your reservations WAY in advance. The campsites are all different shapes and sizes so... More

Good place and pretty beach and waves. Upper and lower boardwalk. Nice power walk area. No restaurants or palm trees except in Carlsbad itself. Heavy traffic on busy highway but the beauty of the waves and beach are a decent trade off. We come back all the time.

We LOVED our camping here! Too bad we could only get 1 night. We stayed at site #6 and it was perfect! Didn't have to back up into our site. Our site was sideways and parked our van and pop-up tent trailer without having to back up a million times to readjust. We had unobstructed views of the beach. The... More
