I had to coax my sometimes Dramamine popping wife to join my 16 year old daughter and I on this great trip. But she was glad she came, the ride was smooth (she had no issues), temperature perfect, whales to see, and entertaining crew to accompany us. The yacht, a replica of the original America, was in beautiful shape. And... More

This is not some cheesy tourist boat but an actual sailboat and well worth the price of admission. You could interact with the crew and that made it even more interesting. Snacks, water & soda are provided. This was a whale watching tour and although great to see was actually secondary to the sailboat experience!

We highly recommend whale watching/sailing with the Yacht America. Not only is the ship beautiful but the crew are absolutely amazing. Al is a wealth of knowledge about the ship, the area and history. He was in the movie Master and Commander! We were also very fortunate to come back into San Deigo under sail rather than engine so that... More

We arrived at the ticket booth and were told that the sailboat was not going out that day and that VIATOR who we booked it through does this all the time. And it was TRIP ADVISOR we got VIATOR through!!!

My partner and another couple went on a Valentine's whale watching adventure with this awesome group. The captain and crew were so friendly and really added to the adventure. The yacht was sold out yet everyone was so friendly it did not seem crowded. We saw dolphins, sea lions, seals, and lots of grey whales. When other boats turned around... More

I tend to get sea-sick, so after searching for whale watching trips we decided on the America. Big plus: they offer a free meal at Anthony's if you lose your lunch. The 139 foot long yacht is immense and immaculately maintained. We sailed that day with the captain's daughter who was taking photographs of the whales. They post them to... More

You can see Whales and dolphins near and also a San Diego skyline. There is quite cold at sea, but remember to take enough clothes. Unforgettable experience.

I was fine until we left the harbor, watching the whales requires you to take your eyes off the horizon. I started getting sick, then, really sick. They suggested I go to the middle of the boat, so my family got split up a bit. Luckily, people got up and my kids came by me. A man from another group... More

Kathy and I had a wonderful time. The boat is a replica of one of the first Amerca's cup racers. It is beautifully maintained and comfortable. The crew and Captain Troy are very accomodating and very capable. Snakes are available but you bring your lunch. The boat can get crowded and you are there with passengers of all abilities. We... We had gone whale watching earlier in the week, and seen both whales and dolphins. But, the idea of this trip really intrigued us. And we weren't disappointed. We'd read the Q&A on the website, and were prepared for the weather. Most folks brought lunch, and we had a fantastic time! The wind was really brisk, and in addition to... More
