Tours and Tickets by Next Level Sailing
Overview
Though several whale watching tours operate out of San Diego, only one cruise whisks passengers out to sea on an actual sailboat. Harness the power of the wind on this whale watching sail, where you board a replica 1851 ship for your cruise. Enjoy unobstructed views from the decks, get a smooth ride, and expect great views of the sea creatures you spot—since they're not scared by a motor.

Review of: San Diego Whale Watching Cruise
Had an awesome day out on the open water with Next Level Sailing and Captain Troy on his beautiful yacht, America. Along the trip we saw large pods of dolphins feeding and topped it off with a close view of a blue whale feeding along the coastal shelf. What an experience! The whale showed his tail all three times which we were informed is rare. My wife and I went out on the same tour earlier in the week and didn’t see any whales but Next Level has a guarantee that you will see whales and they honor it. We immediately contacted the company to schedule another tour and they responded promptly. Captain Troy and his crew aren’t just there for the money, they genuinely want every visitor to see what they paid for. Thanks to Captain Troy and his crew for the great hospitality and an awesome tour.…

Stop. You’ve found what you’ve been looking for. Absolutely amazing experience on a classic boat. I k ow there are no guarantees but on our trip we saw mom and baby dolphins swimming together, then right as we were about to turn around, a blue whale! Experience of a lifetime! I thought it might have been a good choice to book with one of the smaller/quicker boats but I was wrong. The America was quieter, and I imagine, a lot more relaxing. 100 stars!…

Terrific experience. My 80 year old Father had mobility issues and they were great helping us enjoy the trip. Boat is very clean and well maintained. Saw many dolphins and Blue whales. Crew was fantastic. Hats off to Fathom, Abby, Diane, and Captain Troy.

We did not see any whales or large numbers of dolphins. However, it was a beautiful sailboat, excellent crew, beautiful day. Fathom was an excellent guide, very caring, educational, and knowledgeable. The captain and Fathom were as disappointed, or more, than the passengers at not seeing whales or dolphins. This was very unusual for this time of year. None of the whale watching boats saw anything that day. We stayed out for almost 5 hours in an attempt to find whales, and Fathom climbed up 80 feet onto the mast to search. She was determined to find whales for us. You would pay at least this much just to go sailing for a day on the ocean, and there were many interesting things to see in the bay as we moved out to open water. The whale sighting guarantee is very simple to use, so we will try again in a future trip to San Diego.…

Review of: San Diego Whale Watching Cruise
This was one of the funnest family adventures we’ve been on! The ship is the most unique boat on the marina! My husband got to help raise the sail as we got into deep water. We saw blue whales! We were at a point where it was time to turn back, when a baby whale and it’s momma were sighted and we were able to stay a little longer to see them! It was amazing! I didn’t anticipate getting sea sick, but the operators had motion sickness chews. Thank goodness!! Saved me and I so much appreciated it. Snacks and drinks were provided. I can’t thank the crew enough, everyone was so nice. This was the highlight of our vacation! Such a unique experience, highly recommended!!…
