Snapdragons and Manicured Shrubs
Mar 2020
The Alcazar Garden with snapdragons, manicured shrubs and fountains is nestled between beautiful buildings in Balboa Park. It is a nice area to sit and reflect or rest while visiting the park.

Pretty Historic Garden Area in Balboa Park - Alcazar Garden, San Diego
Jan 2020
After our lunch, we took a plesant walk through Alcazar Garden at Balboa Park in San Diego. There are pretty plants and flowers. There is a history sign that describes Alcazar Park. There are pretty views of the park as well.

Eye catching

When walking around the park, this garden pops out and you have to stop and enjoy. It is small compared to the rest of the park, but a welcome retreat. Lots varied plants which some are in bloom. It's a surprising garden which one will admire.

Lovely Gardens
Feb 2018
This very pretty garden is in the middle of Balboa Park, San Diego's gem. It was very popular on a sunny afternoon, parking a bit difficult. Some lovely mission architecture around.

Awesome Alcazar
Oct 2017 • Solo
Alcazar garden, one of many pocket parks within Balboa Park, is located adjacent to the Mingei Museum. It usually has year round flowers blooming and a wondrous water fountain that muffles the noise from the adjacent parking lot and street on the other side. This quiet oasis in the heart of the park is definitely worth a visit and a photo or two.

Right now the garden only has its hedges.
It's a small pleasant place but according to the website, the garden displays 7000 annuals. Not this week

A quiet area within the park

This is a relatively small area near the centre of the park but is a gem of a garden, where we saw and took pictures of several humming birds.

Step away from the bustle of Balboa Park
Aug 2017 • Solo
This garden is small. It barely merits a mention as it is part of the larger Balboa park and attractions in and around plaza panama. Its not like the Alcazar gardens in Seville. It is a nice little garden. Mostly useful if you have seen and herd the vendors and performers along the plaza next door and need a minute of quiet. Not a garden you go to as a destination, but a nice cool quiet space none the less.

One of many within Balboa Park

It was a favorite of mine when I lived here 30 years ago. I would bring my children and it was a nice quiet place to play. They always loved the fountain!
