I booked a private whale watching tour for my family over the phone but I never received an email confirmation. I called them back and no one picked up. The following day I called many times, left three messages, and emailed twice. We even went to the location but no one was there. The next day we arrived for our trip and no one was there. We waited 30 minutes, called and left a message, and finally left without ever doing the trip. I 100% do not recommend this company. Go to a company that picks up their phone, answers their messages, and shows up. I don't know how a company like this can still be in business.

Captain Rick took our family out on a whale/dolphin ride this past week. We were all immediately at ease with Captain Rick and he quickly gave us a brief lesson on the communities of whales and dolphins found around San Diego. He told us a bit about what our adventure would look like and we were off. The boat itself was very comfortable, and Captain Rick told us all of the safety features, so we knew we were in good hands. It took about 8-10 minutes to get out of the harbor to a point where we could really get moving. Once we did, the ride itself was a blast and gave us some amazing views of San Diego and the coast. We rode for about 10-15 minutes before we slowed down and Captain Rick told us a bit about the ocean floor and why we were entering an area that dolphins are frequently found. Within 2-3 minutes we spotted our first pod of dolphins. Captain Rick guessed we were around 50-75 dolphins in this pod. We rode with these dolphins (right up against our boat) for about 5-10 minutes when he spotted another, larger pod of dolphins. We sped over to that group. After spending about 20-30 minutes with this group, Captain Rick guessed this pod had between 200-250 dolphins. From here, we headed north to a spot where he thought we would have the best chance to see a whale. While we didn't get the chance to see any whales on this ride, we did see several pods of dolphins that seemed to play with us and our boat for quite a while. We saw a couple of dolphins jump 10+ feet into the air, and heard several dolphins talking while they breached the water. Seeing these dolphins was amazing and well worth the cost of our ride. For me, however, seeing/hearing how much Captain Rick knew about these creatures and how much he loved them and wanted to honor and protect them was just as impressive. This guy is a legend! We will for sure be back. We've already had conversations with Captain Rick about our return and spending more time with him! CAN'T WAIT!!! Don't miss this chance to get up close and personal with some amazing dolphins and (possibly) whales. To see them in THEIR natural habitat is truly amazing!

There were eight of us on the tour with captain Rick. He was an engaged and enthusiastic tour leader and seems to genuinely love the ocean, marine life and giving tours. During our tour we saw common and bottlenose dolphins and spent about one hour close to the pods, with the rest of the time being travel to and from the location ten miles off the coast. No whales were spotted during our tour. The ride was relatively smooth for a zodiac-type boat, and there was a minimal amount of spray but not enough to get clothes wet. The boat is small but comfortable, but you should definitely use the rest room before boarding and consider your water intake just before boarding and during the tour. The best view is from the “jump seats” up front by the captain, there are two, but they have no back support and the ride is bumpier. The bench seats are three across and the sides offer the best views. The tour is not cheap, but because of the size of the boat and small group you will have a more engaging experience than would be possible on a larger craft. I would recommend the experience for anyone who can sit in the same spot for three hours in the sun, and don’t forget your sunscreen, hat, etc.

First do a search ... there are promo codes and brokers that you can save a lot of money ... we saved around $75 ... we were a party of 4 ... We had the 6 man boat ... and Cap'n Matt was great ... a 20 year Navy man ... No whales as they were on vacation and it's the wrong time of year ... but dare I say ... hundreds of Dolphins ... babies too ... In a RIB you are at the waterline ... the wildlife is litterally a foot away ... at one time ... I have never seen so many dolphins

My friend and I really wanted to go on a fun boat ride, even though we were aware it wasn't really whale season we went. We are so happy with what we got with the RIB Adventure. Sam was a very fun Captain, great jokes and music! I could have just cruised around with him and had been happy. But, we had an incredible experience when we had a group of about 100 dolphins swim around and with us. We were able to lay in the front and look down, practically touching them. It was amazing. I can't wait to get back to San Diego and do it again. It was great having only 6 people on the RIB and I felt very safe and comfortable. (Sorry the photos are blurry, I took some stills from video)
