Stone is "a" favorite brewery of mine but not my favorite. I was happy to visit in July, 2022, and experience a lot more of Stone's offerings, most of which are not available to me outside of San Diego. The taproom was small, but had a large outdoor area. Outside food was allowed, and my buddy and I got some Thai takeout from a spot right next to the taproom. The taproom gal was very helpful and very knowledgeable about Stone's history and and recipes (hops, yeast, etc.) in their beers. We got custom flights, a couple more full pints, and hung out form about 2 hours midday midweek. Plenty of Stone merch was on hand, and the taproom itself was clean, cool and inviting. I would surely visit again when I return to San Diego.

Great beer - everything in the flight was great. I prefer stouts and they had a lot to pick from. Stouts, sours, and IPAs on tap - at least over 20 taps to pick from. This tap room wasnt too big, but it was relaxing with some couches and a large patio to enjoy. There were plenty of Adirondack chairs outside to relax in. I came here during a weekday, so it wasnt busy.

Stone Brewing has a national reputation and many of its IPAs are available elsewhere. But there is so much more to their beer list. You will find some yummy stouts and porters as well as some experimental hard seltzer here. In all, there are about 30 on tap with every tap looking the same. Employees have to memorize the taps. No dummies working here! The food is excellent and reservations are recommended. However its easy for one or two people to sit at the bar or 2 top tables surrounding the bar and those are first come.

We stopped here to sample their beers and grab lunch. Discovered that they don’t sell food despite some TA reviews praising their it. Turns out that several reviews, including the two preceding ones, were for a different Stone taproom and should be ignored for this location. The nearby Thai restaurant was also closed when we arrived.
We ended up having two rounds of beer that were very good. They had about a dozen different beers or so on tap when we were there plus a few bottles. The tap list was heavy on IPAs.
Service was very good and the people were friendly. They also sell a lot of Stone merchandise if you’re looking for some beer souvenirs.
Recommended.

Another great craft brewery that has established itself in the San Diego Columbia/Kettner/India St area. Located close to Sante Fe Station if you know the area. Somewhat more intimate interior than the other downtown breweries but has a very nice landscaped outside courtyard patio that most downtown breweries do not have. No food at this Stone Brewery location, just good beer. You can create your own brewery walking tour in this area and hit about 4-5 breweries. Worth seeking out.

Due to Covid regulations, you have to order food to order beer. The adjacent Thai restaurant fulfills the food part, but the lady didn’t speak English and it took a few minutes for me to figure out what to do to get to the beer! (Each county in California is different!) Once I figured it out, it was great! I loved the relaxing, outdoor beer garden in the middle of town! Great beer as well!

Never knew this place was here! Next to the Santa Fe train station, so you can relax before or after your trip. Nice garden area, Thai food available.

Right by the Santa Fe Train Station. A must while walking the Embarcadero. Sit on the patio and get a sampler. You can bring your own food or have a pizza delivered. Best beer in San Diego, at least one of them!

Loved the location, middle of downtown but such a chill courtyard outside, didn't feel like you're in the middle of a concrete jungle. The beers were on point too. Would come back any day

I was on vacation and since I love beer I had to try the Stone Brewery. This location has a rustic exterior and inside is a cave like feel with games, comfy seats and plenty of beer selections. My 10oz was only $5 and was delicious. They also have some great gift ideas as well.
