When we are on vacation, we always look for something a little different to do, especially in the evenings. We were right on the money when we bought tickets to see Macbeth at the Old Globe Theatre. The production was wonderful, the theatre was great, an outdoor production with great weather!. Every seat in the place offered a great view... More

We saw Macbeth in the outdoor theater. The lighting was appropriate for the evening, punctuated by the occasional airplane passing by and some fireworks. Reasonably comfortable seating, and a dramatic backdrop for the creatively costumed drama.

I went to see Camp David at the Old Globe, and even though I bought the least expensive tickets available, the theater was small enough to be able to easily see and hear. Finding parking on the weekend was a pain in the neck, but that was the only problem. It was a miserably hot day, so we were invited... More

The Old Globe offers live theater year-round in San Diego and is a treasure as one of the top regional theaters in the United States. With three very different venues, the Globe offers such an incredible variety of plays, musicals, dramas, Shakespeare, experimental pieces, new works, and revivals of older works and classics. We are subscribers and we enjoy the... More

Even before we were able to move to La Jolla, CA, we would vacation in San Diego where we always booked our trip to correspond with Shakespeare at the Park. We always included our two girls so they could experience great theater. Now that we live here, we have season tickets and continue to enjoy the great productions. Each of... More

Our family went to see "Camp David" at the Old Globe Theatre while visiting San Diego, and I'd gladly go back to this venue to make a future trip memorable. Part of Balboa Park, the Old Globe mimics its Shakespearean namesake in England in architectural style. It's situated on a courtyard with a small restaurant nearby, which is handy if... More

When walking around the Balboa Park, The Old Globe grabbed my attention right away. Couldn't help it to keep walking that direction to check out the beautiful building! It turns out it is a theater. It is not a big venue, small but intimate. What a beautiful architecture!!

On each trip to San Diego, we always schedule at least one play at The Old Globe Theater. The acting, the costuming and the staging for RAIN was wonderful and of very high quality. All seating seems to have a good sight line. The only thing that could be improved is to have restrooms on the main level instead of... More

The Old Globe theatre has good theatre productions. Unfortunately the quality and taste in programming in recent years has gone down in recent years after Jack O'Brien, the esteemed theatre director, left his post as Artistic Director
