The Tony Award-winning Old Globe is one of the country’s leading professional regional theatres and has stood as San Diego’s flagship arts institution for over 80 years. Under the leadership of Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein, The Old Globe produces a year-round season of 15 productions of classic, contemporary, and new works on its three Balboa Park stages: the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the 600-seat Old Globe Theatre and the 250-seat Sheryl and Harvey White Theatre, both part of The Old Globe’s Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, and the 605-seat outdoor Lowell Davies Festival Theatre, home of its internationally renowned Shakespeare Festival. More than 250,000 people attend Globe productions annually and participate in the theatre’s education and community programs. Numerous world premieres such as the 2014 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, Bright Star, Allegiance, The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, and the annual holiday musical Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! have been developed at The Old Globe and have gone on to enjoy highly successful runs on Broadway and at regional theatres across the country.

The Grinch musical is wonderfully entertaining for the whole family! It gives a message that the spirit of Christmas exists without the gifts & commercialism . Although the gifts are returned by the new big -hearted Grinch at the end. Costumes, set design, acting, songs & singing are all fantastic. I Highly recommend!

Always wanted to see a production inside the Old Globe Theater. Decided to see How The Grinch Stole Christmas, a San Diego tradition for so many. Doors opened around a half hour before the presentation starts. Had balcony seats for special aviance they provide in this classic theater. Seats were very comfortable. Liked the interior architecture. Presentation started on time.... More

This theatre is very beautiful, same design as shakespere globe in London. The theatre show at my visit is " How Grinch stole Christmas ". The costume , the music, screenplay are so splendid. It's very valued money. Try the other performance in year round.

The Grinch was AMAZING. The actors are so talented and I was really swept up in the play. Dont forget to go early and try the lobster bisque from the stand, there is an area with tables, chairs and much appreciated heaters. it was the best that I have ever had, I only got a cup but really wish that... We attended the performance of October Sky and were very impressed. The cast were excellent and the scenery and props outstanding. The view of the stage from all the seats was very good. Before the performance and during the interval you can stroll around outside and enjoy a drink. The location of the eater in the centre of the park... More

We attended a Sunday Matinee to see October Sky. My first visit to the Old Globe Theater. Very impressive. Not a bad seat in the house. The musical was great. Excellent cast, story line and arrangements. Very enjoyable and will attend again.

A visit to the old Globe can rarely miss. The sight lines are terrific. If you are "big boned" you might prefer and aisle seat. Prices are reasonable with discounts for seniors etc. note that the ticket stub gives you a discount at the Prado restaurant, but no one mentions it before hand. Therefore if you are eating at the... The Old Globe is a highly regarded local theatre. It attracts very talented local talent and, when needed, supplements the cast with professional actors. Direction and production of its plays are very professional and a large number of its offerings make it to Broadway. Well worth a visit!

Besides Balboa Park being a BEAUTIFUL place to visit, the Old Globe Theatre is wonderful. We saw October Sky. EXCELLENT. I don't think I have ever been as emotional as I was watching this play/musical. It was fantastic. Looked to me that every seat in the theatre was a great seat.

These tickets were very expensive and we had a promo code but the website had issues when we bought the tickets. We tried to reach out to them the next day but they would not honor the code anymore. When the website was back up I could see that the promo code would then work but they would not help... More
