The beach looked nice, inviting and clean. However, I didn't get a chance to swim. It was raining off and on periodically.

This beach is beautiful and fun to walk, on the sand or boardwalk. The pier is a fun place to watch surfers and pelicans.

This is a beautiful, long, clean yellow sand beach that never feels crowded even on a busy day. There is a nice pier and on a cloudy day, if you're lucky, the dolphins and whales will come near enough to be spotted from the beach....More

Beautiful! The boardwalk is the best! So many people running, biking, on scooters! Lots of places to eat and little shops.

Great place to drive, walk, scooter, etc. The restaurants, dives, shops in town. But the best is the boardwalk. Park and walk and walk and walk. The best people watching anywhere. Eat and drink at one of the great restaurants then walk out on the...More

I do not see why you would not be able to boogie boarding at this beach. I did not see any signs that indicate you can not on this beach. For sure, it's AWESOME for families. Even good for dudes with service dog. :)

We normally stay off of Mission Blvd. so, I would say West of Mission Blvd. between Beryl St. and Chalcedony St. would be best parking conditions.

mission beach vs pacific beach (6 Replies)
Help - I am planning a vacation in March. My 3 yr old and my 60yr old inlaws will be with my husband and I. I would like to book a beach front condo/house. I have heard great reviews about Pacific Beach, but we seem to have a lot more choices of rentals in Mission Beach. Is there a big difference between the 2 areas? What are the differences? Thanks!

Personally, I prefer the PB area....just my opinion...you can rent on the ocean or you can rent overlooking the bay and there are nicer and cleaner walking areas. Just my 2 cents.

Had a wonderful day yesterday walking in Pacific Beach. We ate brunch at World Famous and then walked the beach, crossed to the bay and then through the Catamaran and back to our car. All the time we were thinking about the news yesterday that said 49 out of 50 states had snow somewhere !! I was wearing sandals and T shirt and the only thing we needed was sunscreen!!! I still LOVE the location of the Catamaran and think that the bay views and proximity to ocean is more important than the...More

Week in SD in later September - early October (8 Replies)
Hi... Two ladies, first time in SD, want to see Catalina Island, La Jolla, Coronado Island, a little time on the Pacific beach somewhere. We are not looking for the high end travel but not the lowest either. We will NOT have a car and need to know the ropes of getting around. Would staying on Coronado Island be more centralized for public trans. or staying downtown? Thanks much.

Staying downtown would be "more centralized" for public transportation than Coronado.
