Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

Been to lots of zoo's, none like this one. It's so big, with so many trails, you need to go for more than one day, we did two. Some of the trails are steep, so be advised of that, plus it's a lot of walking Do yourself a favor, and buy your tickets in advance so you don't waste almost... More

If you find yourself in San Diego, you have to find the time to hit the zoo! It is such a well done, beautiful zoo, and it's the perfect way to spend a day. The terrain is interesting and varied, the variety of the animals is great, and the exhibits for each of the animals are large and look well... More

It is exhilarating experience. The best zoo I have seen and may be top in the world. I did safari and we were little late for whole safari but still it was wonderful. Unfortunately because of some weather issue the balloon ride was off, still we managed the main ride and enjoyed it in late evening. A must for animal lover.

If your visiting San Diego this is one place to go see. The Zoo is clean, staff friendly and lots of great food. I've been to several but this has to be the best. Being here is like walking in the animals habitat.

Husband and I spent a lovely day at the zoo. Started with the guided bus tour, and I'm glad we did. The place is huge, and it gave a great introductory overview, not to mention the great animal sightings and information. The panda's and gorillas were the highlight for us, and the sky lift too. Rather than standing in line... More

I loved this place! There is so much to see, you really want to get there early so you have plenty of time to explore everywhere. Lots of walking and quite a few hills, so make sure to wear good walking shoes during your adventure there. Part of the zoo is under construction to add new exhibits, but don't let... More

Had a really fun day at the zoo. The bus tour was the first thing we did. Our tour guide had a great personality plus her knowledge she shared was so interesting. You can tell she loves her job. The park is just the right size to be able to walk and see everything in one day (without spending too... More

In the heart of San Diego, the zoo is thoughtfully laid out with space for the animals and birds to live comfortably. There's always something happening, such as the birth of a baby giraffe in December 2015. We saw it just 4 days old. The Australia exhibit is amazing, as well as the new enclosures for the big cats.
