Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

We absolutely loved this zoo. It was very clean, nice and so many different types of animals. It was very large and modern. It is definitely a place where you would want to spend the whole day.

this is the best value in San Diego O recommend the kangaroo bus you rid all day hopping on and off at many stops around the zoo. So you can get a closer look at the animals or eat and walk when you want. The Children zoo is very child friendly including some hands petting of goats and sheep

The zoo is one of the best that I have ever seen. Wherever possible attempts are made to have the animals in their "natural habitat. Additionally, night time at the zoo showcase night animals. Excellent educational "fun" activity for the whole family. (Don't miss the polar bears......they have it set up so that you can see both above the water... More

Excellent place, lots of diverse animals and very clean habitats. It really seemed like most of the animals were healthy and happy there. Tip: take the bus shuttle tour for the East side of the zoo, it's a long walk. Then cable car it down the hill and walk the west side, which is not serviced by bus.

The prices were way high in our opinion from the admission fee to the food. We also didn't love how there were so many tour buses running that there wasn't a lot of space to walk and the sidewalks were so crowded because of this. There was a large selection of animals but if we are ever in San Diego... More

I was glad we went to see the famous San Diego Zoo. Loved how they open it in the morning with the bird fly over. The double decker busses were a fun way to the see the zoo. The zoo is very big and hilly-it is hard to make your way around. Personally, my favorite zoo is the Milwaukee County... More

This is the best zoo I have ever been to. Spent the whole day here and still did not do everything there is. Wonderful and large exhibits and knowledgeable docents and keepers that love what they do. A must do when in the San Diego area!

Easy to get to, and spotless with great staff and signage available to direct you. Pandas and Koala bears are incredible as are the polar bears. The environments are large and the animals in great health. Just walking the truly beautiful grounds is a pleasure. Plus if you're tired of walking, the overhead cable car or bus is available. Plenty... More
