More
Founded in 1916, the Zoo has been an icon in San Diego for nearly 100 years—and an absolute must-see in Southern California. Spend the day monkeying around in our tropical oasis as you visit beautiful habitats that are home to gorillas, eagles, tigers, sun bears, Asian leopards, rare reptiles, a palette of colorful birds, and more. Visit the Australian Outback to delight in our colony of 24 koalas, and travel along Panda Trek to experience giant pandas and other animals that share their bamboo forest habitat. Go back in time through Elephant Odyssey to discover what animals used to roam Southern California and see what the elephants are up to. Enjoy a guided tour on a double-decker bus or the scenic view from the Skyfari aerial tram, and dine in the peaceful surroundings of Albert's Restaurant. Discover the wonders of wildlife with animal encounters, interactive experiences, and keeper chats. A leader in animal care and conservation, the San Diego Zoo is at the heart of the San Diego experience.

We have visited lots of different animal parks in the U.K and felt the web page of the zoo gave a good overview. The site is very large and it was busy from opening. The bus shuttle was excellent and we saw more animals than...More

This is one of the most beautiful zoos I've seen. The ideal weather allows for eye-appealing exhibits and habitats and it's a pleasure to see so many animals out and about. There are several new exhibits and the time-honored tram ride was led by a...More

This is an amazing zoo and most of the enclosures are very artistically designed. It was busy but lines were managed very well. We rode the Skyfari several times to move between the top and bottom of the zoo; much easier on little legs than...More

Love this zoo and try to visit it or the Safari Park every time we come to SD. Don't miss it! Loved the meerkat exhibit.

The zoo is great!! Temps are cool. Busses, trams, and aerial transportation all help as you go up and down the hills! A must do in San Diego.

We were only in San Diego for 2 days, and were glad we spent nearly a whole day at San Diego Zoo. Make sure you get the earlier in the day, as some animals sleep and enclosures close from 3-4ish onwards. Worth going just to...More

This zoo is massive, there is so much to see! All different kinds of animals, lovely walking paths, and interesting info all along the way. It did take quite a bit of time to see most of the zoo, we didn't see the polar bears...More

Excellent reason for all amazing work this not for profit does but still struggled with tired look of zoo and sad looking animals in small caged areas.

Hi, we were just there and our tour guide said *some* of the construction will be done by August, but some won't be done until this fall. Even so, I assure you, the construction doesn't really detract from the experience... More
