Ward Meade Park is a beautiful oasis in central Topeka. From a summer day with a green river soda for yesteryear served up from the period soda fountain, to Apple Fest where kids can see a black smith at work or make rope. The gardens are a beautiful setting for weddings

I have been visiting this place for over 30 years and always find it enjoyable. I even shot some video for my memory tools which turned out great except for the highway noise which is close but unseen.

Took my granddaughter here as it is one of my favorite local spots. We both took lots of photos and enjoyed the collection of old structures. I told her stories of the pioneers and of my ancestors. A definite must see when in Topeka.

Warde Meade is an oasis in downtown Topeka! The gardens are beautiful as are the historic buildings. They offer many classes and events. Weddings are performed in the garden.

Enjoyed seeing the different buildings, including a mansion, old soda fountain, dental office, grocery store, telephone office, train depot, etc. Interesting for kids that love history and adults.

Walk the grounds of Old Prairie Town on your own or go with a guide and see inside all the buildings, learn the history, and tour the Ward Meade home. Shop in the General Store and visit the Drug Store for refreshments. You will be amazed at the flower and water gardens as you leisurely stroll the winding paths of... More

Along with the original Ward-Meade house there are a number of historical buildings from KS that have been moved onto the site, including an old fashioned soda fountain, blacksmith shop, log cabin from the days of the original settlers, barber shop, general store, church, school, RR station.... the gardens are wonderful to walk through. There are several festival type events... More

I learn something more/new every time I take a tour. Ask questions, visit the soda fountain, book a group dinner in the cabin or the main house :)

We visited this historic site in Topeka during Tulip Time. The gardens are beautiful and well maintained. The buildings are interesting inside and out. It was a fun visit. The ladies in the buildings shared some really interesting information. You can even get a snack in the old drug store.
