Neighborhood: Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.

Nice walk with lots of places to sit and just relax. Get an ice cream at the Hood, really good. Love watching the activities around the water front.

Free view of the city and river bank
Apr 2019 • Friends
I would only recommend going to this place if you have plenty of time in Boston (because it's free, so why not?). You can only go to the 14th floor and have the view of the city and the bank. However, the view is not that great, and you can barely see downtown.
Please keep in mind that you will have to show your ID when you enter the building.

Free city views
Nov 2018 • Couples
Great way to snag a view of the city and plot your next move. You would never know you can go up to this 14th Floor observation deck unless you read a review online or someone suggested it. Free, no signage, but just go to the security desk in the lobby and tell them you would like to see the observation deck. They will ask to see your identification and then up you go. You can see right over to the Seaport Village or catch a city view on the other side of the building.

go for the Observation Deck
Oct 2017 • Friends
A friend introduced me to the building and observation deck several years ago. It is open to the public 7 days a week. The security officer in the lobby gives visitors access on weekends; on week days, he/she checks ids and then gives directions to the 14th floor. It is a really beautiful view of the harbor and other waterways. This summer at least, a very successful roof top garden is still producing vegetables! Great for out-of-town visitors.

Great view and chill out zone!

This is a hidden gem along the Boston Harbour. My family and I bought tickets for the next tour at the Boston Ships and Museum (5 min walk away) then came here for the Observation Deck on the 14th Floor (ID needed) and the sofa area on the same floor. Highly recommended for a brief moment of relaxation in such a bustling city.

Cool views

You need an id to check in with security and then you go to the 14th floor. It is free and the views of Fort Point and the harbor are great. Well worth a look see. Hours are daily opening at 10am.
