After a long day the cruise was a welcome. The decks were full but we did get seats. The young gentleman gave a good narration about he history of the town and the harbour pointing out the main features and buildings of the Boston skyline. It was a part of the Old Town Trolley tour . We didnt pay anything extra.... More

Enjoyed this cruise, somewhat brief though it was. Boston has so much history, it would be difficult to cram in much more though. The commentary was concise, witty, and informative. There was a good mix, including new facilities and historical landmarks. Well worth the time and the expense.

While most other cruise companies shut down in November, this one still had their 45 minute USS Constitution cruises running. Lucky for us, the weather was still beautiful and we got to enjoy fantastic views from the top deck the whole time. They do have an extensive indoor area if it's too chilly for you this time of year. We did this as a part of our Old Town Trolley Tour. A great way to see Boston from the ocean. Interesting history and knowledgable guide.

If you are prone to sea sickness, take some Dramamine before you go. The sea can be quite rough and it's a two hour trip round trip. You will be rewarded, however, by spectacular views of whales breeching.

After walking around the city all weekend, the 45 minute harbor cruise was a good way to sit down, rest our legs, yet still "learn" something about Boston. Even though it was cold out, we sat on the top outdoor deck and got great landscape photos. The cruise was included in our Old Town Trolley ticket.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
