The Black Rose is a true Irish Pub. Yes, it attracts a lot of tourists, but this is the real deal with Guiness on tap poured just like they do in Dublin. Real Irish music complete with impromptu dancing. Spend some time with friends and enjoy a great Irish evening.

Brighter inside than last visit cleaner also. Busy place bar crowded hard to find wiggle room no seats. Our group of six had a beer and decided not to wait two hours for a table .

Great place to have a drink and a classic watering hole in Boston. Had breakfast here, it was awful. Other spots in the area have a much better breakfast, save the Black Rose for your drinks and nightlife.

Stopped for a couple of drinks on the way to the airport and wasn't disappointed. Good selection of whiskeys after having Irish Coffee. Bartender has authentic Irish brogue; met some nice folk including real Irishmen stopping in to visit and enjoy the atmosphere. Didn't try the food; the couple at the bar next to me enjoyed their food.

Went back to the Black Rose on the 12th of April after the first time 4 years ago, and its still a great place to eat and drink. We stayed at the Harborside Inn and the Black Rose is just across the street. We had the Sheppards pie and fish and chips and all was excellent. Its a bit loud,... More

Boston is a city that is packed with Irish pubs; some are authentic, some are pure corporate creations; some are sorta in-between. This is one of the authentic venues. The food is delicious and mostly un-Americanized, the decor is perfectly American-Irish, and the live music is excellent. I highly recommend the beef stew. If you're ever around Quincy Market and... This place seems to be a bit of a landmark. We went on a weekend so it was very busy. Lots of good beer on tap and the food was much better than expected. They had a great musician playing a few sets at dinner time and the overall vibe of the place is great. I talked to a few... More

This place was located near our hotel. It was always hopping on the weekends, could hear the music outside which was quite good. When we went to have dinner there the food was okay. My friend tried their clam chowder and lobster "roll" special. She said the clam chowder was okay but not as good as some places. Her lobster... More

People who frequent Boston, frequent The Black Rose, It is a traditional New England Irish Pub. Great atmosphere, great beers, and great live entertainment. This place is worth your time and money. It's a fun place to hang out.

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
