If you're looking for a different tour of the freedom trail, this tour is HIGHLY recommended! My son and myself did this tour, Rachel was our guide and she is legit when it comes to colonial history and history of Boston! I've done other freedom trail tours and this tour blows them all away - Why? The guides all have/working on advanced degrees in history! The founder is a PhD! Rachel, our guide, was knowledgeable, charming, funny and really knew how to tell a great story! We walked approximately 1 mile of the freedom trail. I'd love to see a tour of the full freedom trail and taverns. And then there is the taverns and beer, and it's history in relation to Boston. The choices of beers/ciders are really great and are all brewed in New England! There's a reason that people come back to do the tour multiple times - IT'S FUN AND EDUCTIONAL! If you have 2 hours to do any freedom trail tour in Boston, choose this one! Ye Olde Tavern Tour is the most fun I've had on a tour!

Great tour with lots of history. A few things: the second pub is a totally modern bar with LED lighting and lounge seating. I get that it was once an old pub but not anymore. There ARE many old pubs that could take its place. More importantly the beer: it’s short pours of average beers. There are good, interesting beers available at these places but you can only choose from 3 preselected choices (4 at the last place). Here are all the beer choices on our tour:

Downeast cider
Sam Adams 26.2
Cisco whales tail pale ale

Harpoon fresh tracks
Harpoon ufo white
Switchback ale

Sam Adams
Sam Adams brick red
Mayflower ipa
Downeast cider

Solid tour. I’d go again and maybe see if they’d let me get something good not on the list :-D

My husband and I have been to Boston many times , as our daughter lived there for 5 years. This year we chose to go there for anniversary. Having been on all the tours we could find, we were looking for something else to do on our free afternoon . My sister had just come back from Boston and recommended this tour. She told me the tour guide had a Doctorate in History and used to teach history at one of the universities on Boston. Thus, the thought of a walking tour to three taverns, having a couple of beers, and learning history from an expert sounded like fun.
It was great! We had a small group 10 people and our leader Brooke was fabulous! She was so dynamic and passionate about the history of that time, I was totally hooked. We walked through the Old city area and after a little history, stopped at a tavern where we had a choice of three different beers. She explained the different beers to us and while enjoying our drinks, she went into the history of the area. After about 20 minutes we were off to the next stop. We went to 3 different old taverns and had drinks at all the stops. The combination of a little walking, a nice drink, and an amazing history professor was fabulous. It was the best 2.5 hours ever spent on a tour. If you are going to Boston, do Not miss this tour. Thank you Brooke. We had an amazing time and learned so much. Have recommended it to many already.

Googled "Revolutionary War tours" hoping to find one with beer and found this. Very well worth it. 👍

This was easily one of the best tours I have ever been on. Our tour guide Kristen was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Revolution, consistently stumping us with trivia questions throughout the 2 hour tour (even though most of us were from Boston). What could be better than learning about the revolution while sipping a cold beer where the Sons of Liberty changed the course of history?

My husband and I did this tour today and it was great! Before buying our tickets we debated whether we should pay $50 +tax for a tour of the Freedom Trail with 3 beers when a Freedom Trail tour without beers costs $14. We decided to do it and it was well worth it! Brooke was a fantastic tour guide! She did a great job of bringing the historical figures of the American Revolution to life, making them real people and not just the 2 dimensional characters you read about in high school. There were great beer selections at each of the 3 taverns, all craft beers from New England. I recommend this tour to anyone (over 21 of course)!

We came to Boston with 5 other couples. What a great way to hear the real story of the revolutionary war while sharing a beer, just like our fore fathers did. Brooke was so passionate and knowledgeable. We could have listened to her all day long. We also sampled beers that are not available anywhere else. A great tour. Would do it again and again.

Elizabeth was on point and very enthusiastic about the history of Boston. She was extremely knowledgeable and created a great overall experience. I've been on tours in the past where I'm waiting for them to end...NOT THIS TOUR! It was about 2.5 hours and easily could have been 4 hours and she still would have kept our attention. They also keep the groups smaller so it's a much better experience. It was definitely the highlight of my trip to Boston. I would recommend it to anyone.
