I've been to Royale a handful of times, and I have to say I'm not impressed. On this occasion, a group of friends went to Royale to celebrate a friend that was moving away - Morgan Page was the main DJ that night. The music was ok but nothing special. Some songs were a little hard to dance to. The... More

Five of us went to see Allen Stone last night. With all the nonsense going on around the world, the security was really refreshing - professional and nice. We really enjoyed ourselves - kudos to the team at the Royale!

Saw Heartless Bastards and Old 97's here this weekend. Club is located right on Tremont in a great location. Intimate space to see a show but definitely didn't feel crowded. Friendly bar staff. Good sound system! Would definitely go back to see another show here!

Set inside a large building with a lot of stairs leading up to the club, Royale definitely has some character. The sides are decked out with Chandeliers. While I don't tend to enjoy super-packed club nights, it doubles as an excellent music venue with actual room to breathe. Standing room only, but there aren't really any bad places to stand.

This is not a music review. First of all they should look up the definition of "Nightclub". Very few tables, no table service, no food, dirty restrooms, and a bartender that didn't know what a vodka gimlet was. Seriously? At least we know now what we will be getting into next time...there is a real opportunity for a competent manager... More

Good spot to see a show. It's a pretty intimate place. Not too crowded and easy to get a drink. Worth checking out if you are interested in a band playing here.

Went for a private party. The area is secluded and hard to find. The space is large. The food was great but not sure they supplied it or it was an outside caterer. The dj and music played was kind of lame and definitely did not get the party dancing.

I was there at the Royale yesterday.the cover charge is 30 bucks per person. The place is big with a DJ playing on the stage. The lighting and the special effects are extremely good. the first DJ played music that was little bit disappointing,But the mood changed when the second DJ took to the floor and boy,did he rock the... Great place for concerts and probably my favorite venue in Boston. I have seen numerous shows there and the sound has always been great. Seems to be an odd place for metal shows though due to the raised dance floor but being close to the front has never caused that to be a problem for me. The view from the... More

The girl at the door who searched my bag was obviously on drugs. She spent about 5 minutes going through every little thing, having trouble with each zipper and dropping stuff on the ground, even opened up my ear plug case and asked what they were. I can't help but think she really wanted me to have drugs, so she... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
