My husband and I went and saw Sweeney Todd last year on our honeymoon. The theater was small but spacious. The atmosphere was very intimate. At times it really felt like the actors were talking or singing directly to me! It was such a good show.

I know, everyone has seen the movie or the play somewhere, but never in so intimate a setting as the Lyric Stage in Boston. Do you have any trepidation of the cast being reduced from around 45 to 16? Don't be. These are superb performers with some doubling or, it seemed, tripling up their roles. And the voices are pure,... More

The Lyric with Spiro at its helm always puts on an entertaining product with a wide variety of great local actors. The size of the theatre makes viewing from almost any seat in the house not an issue. When in Boston consider stopping here for an entertaining evening.

I attend about 4 theaters in the area regularly. Out of the bunch, Lyric stage is my ultimate favorite. They offer great plays in an intimate setting. You can't get a bad seat in there. At this point I just go to all of their offerings, since I haven't seen them produce a bad play yet.

We truly enjoyed not only the play but the venue. Not a bad seat making for a very intimate experience.

This had to be one of the liveliest, funniest, best cast production we have seen for a long time. The audience gave a standing ovation at the end and it was deserved. Our faces hurt from laughing so hard. Everyone was splendid but special note must be given to Will LeBow, Will McGarrahan, and Paula Plum. What a cast! What... More

Allergist's Wife is not a very interesting show. Our mistake. Actors did was well as they could. Some miscasting (two characters who were supposed to be the same age were played by actors who were no where near the same age). There was probably not much more to be done with this script. Other production elements (set, lighting, etc) were... More

Wow. Powerfully crafted and doesn't lag-even though it is a 2 and 1/2 hour production. Casting is perfect, voices excellent both individually and in the many interactive pieces, and well integrated. Sondheim would have liked this production...fast paced and entertaining... the humor and absurdity of the plot amuse while the music and lyrics are gripping. Really enjoyed this Sweeney Todd!

This was my very first visit to the Lyric Stage Company and what a great first impression they made. The space is intimate and cozy - it's hard to imagine there's a bad seat in the house (I was in the 2nd row on the stage right front corner of the stage). Tickets were completely affordable ($36) as were the... More

We saw Into The Woods and were delighted at how strong the voices and acting were. 2 or 3 of the actors had Broadway strong pipes. The Theater is a little wonky. It looks to have between 300 and 400 seats which are wrapped around a thrust stage. It's small but not uncomfortable. Oddly, it is located on the 2nd... More

Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
