Offering an intimate, private tour alternative to the larger public tours, Cambridge Historical Tours' guides have focused on delivering high-value entertainment while you learn. Fantastic storytelling, in-depth knowledge, and a touch of both humor and charm have kept our guests delighted since 2011. Whether you're looking for tours of Harvard, The Freedom Trail, The North End, MIT, Cambridge, Beacon Hill, or surrounding areas, we can tailor your path to make sure you see what you'd like to see. For corporate tour groups and others who prefer a more traditional tour, we can dress in business casual, or accordingly to the weather. At night, we offer private and group Ghost Tours and Pub Crawls. As of 2024 we will be relaunching as The Boston History Company to reflect the way we've grown in these last 12 years. We've loved sharing our passion for history, science and Innovation as Cambridge Historical Tours, and we cannot wait to do the same as The Boston History Company!

On 10/08/22 the Innovation Trail Tour, Daniel Berger-Jones delivered an excellent rendition of the myth, power and values which make Boston the Athens of America.
If you’re a tourist, tech or finance employee, aspiring venture capitalist or even a local, this is a great background on what drives the engine of growth in Massachusetts. Daniel has a stentorian voice that carries above the noise of the city.

Our corporate group took this company's newest offering, the innovation trail tour. It was led by Daniel, one of the owners of the company, and it wildly exceeded our expectations. Daniel had incredible, inspiring stories of innovators and innovations rooted in Boston and Cambridge. With a background in history and theatre, with a big booming voice, Daniel was a real treat. Highly recommended to inspire your corporate group!

What an amazing afternoon! Our guide was really a wealth of information and really brought the colonial history to life in an exciting and fun way. We started in Boston Commons and ended up in the North End. The guide was thorough, and even stayed a bit after the tour to give people restaurant suggestions or tips.

Daniel was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide. Did the Innovation Trail tour on 10/8/22 and you wouldn't have been able to tell it was the first iteration of the tour! Lays out the story very well from pre-20th century all the way to modern day biotech and defense.
Took the tour with a group of university professors/officials that specialize in research integrity and innovation. They all found it valuable and enjoyable!
In terms of planning for time, I would expect the tour to run closer to 2 hours vs 90 min. Lots of good info and questions from the group!

Matthew has a phenomenal depth of knowledge and did an amazing job putting the story of the events leading up to the revolution into perspective. Many significant insights. It was an informative, fun experience.
I recommend this tour group to anyone vs. the other tour styles we had around us. This was an exceptional experience.

My boyfriend and I were in Boston for the first time traveling from Chicago and we decided to try a private tour to get the best information of its history and best experience. We were so blown away with SAM!!! He was very knowledgeable, answered all of our questions we had, and you could tell he was truly passionate about what he does. We plan on coming back in October to visit Salem and already told him we can’t wait to book a tour with him again for this! Highly recommend a private tour with Sam and would absolutely give him 5 stars 10/10!

Fantastic insight to the history of and behind the Revolution.
Jules, our Guide, was very animated and an absolute wealth of information.
Covered all of the major sites and Jules was able to provide fantastic backstory and narrative along the way.
I would highly recommend.

Tour guides make or break a tour. Seems like a basic qualification to be a tour guide is having a likable personality. Boston tour company doesn’t seem to care about that. Our guide (Alissa) was rigid, boring, unable to read her audience and was on autopilot the whole time. She reminded us of one of those nerdy know-it-all kids in highscool that just likes to hear herself talk and everyone hated. Avoid her. She is zero fun.

Our guide Mark was excellent and extremely knowledgeable. Tour was longer than the 21/2 hours as we had some slow pokes in our group. Would highly recommend this tour, took lots of photos and learned tons💕

Great morning exploring Boston's freedom trail with my teenage son. Our guide, Rob Crean, was very knowledgable and greatly entertaining, bringing to life the history of early America. I very much recommend.

This is! Harvard Yard is inaccessible by automobile, and we think you get an even closer look at things by foot, anyway. Hope this helps!
