You get all sorts of information with David that you would never get on your own as well as great recommendations for things to do after you finish the tours. He is fun and funny and... More

Free Tours by Foot operates in quite a few cities, and I always try to find one when I go on vacation. This tour of the Freedom Trail did not disappoint. Brian was informative, entertaining, and detailed. Highly recommended in Boston and any other city they serve.

This was an excellent tour which I really enjoyed - a thorough overview of the history of the campus, as well as some suggestions of where to eat and visit. David P was a great guide, very knowledgeable and eloquent. The tour moved at a good pace and covered a good portion of the campus. A great way for those... More

I was a complete stranger to Boston and really loved hearing about the Freedom Trail from someone who knew it inside out. I also joined the Harvard and Cambridge tour with David P. Both were fab ways of learning my way around the city and learning things about it. David is a very experienced tour guide - he told us... More

Tour was very entertaining and informative; guide was pretty funny and energetic and seemed to know quite a bit about Harvard (until we asked some in-depth questions - never mind). Recommended, and would have even better if it were a bit longer!

My husband and I pre-booked a tour to the first half of The Freedom Trail and had a wonderful guide in Brian! Such energy and character...especially on a particularly warm day in Boston. We enjoyed it so much we decided to "hop on" to a second tour that did the remainder of The Freedom Trail. This tour, while different than... More

Our tour was fantastic! Brian did an exceptional job as our tour guide in Boston. We learned a lot, and were thoroughly entertained. We would definitely recommend Brian as a tour guide and this Freedom Trail tour to anyone. Free Tours By Foot never disappoints!

I'm a history teacher and I've taken walking tours in several major cities, including Beirut, Berlin and Prague, and I found Brian's Freedom Trail tour to be phenomenal. He's an incredibly animated and friendly guide, but he's also remarkably knowledgeable. He was a veritable treasure trove of facts about Boston's famed historic sites, and his highly entertaining style really brought... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighborhood Profile
Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.
