This is a wonderful opportunity to take a 2.5 hour tour of Nubian Square in Roxbury! If you have never been to Roxbury, this is the tour for you. Collin Knight is an excellent and friendly guide who will answer all your questions. Did you know that Martin Luther King, Jr. marched in Roxbury? Do you know the life work of Melinea Cass, Ruth Batson and Elma Lewis? Collin Knight provides an informative tour and the stories behind the history, development and community leaders of Roxbury. As you walk, you will see beautiful murals, historic architecture and local businesses. Collin also took us inside the international grocery store Tropical Foods for a break/snack. We saw Eustis Fire Station, Eliot Burying Ground and had a chance to browse in Frugal Books. We ended the tour at P&R for Jamaican patties. There is plenty of free parking on Washington Street. I highly recommend this tour for students, friends, families and individuals to come and see Collin Knight and livelikealocaltoursboston. He also has walking tours of Jamaica Plain and Dorchester.

Collin is incredible! He is a true community champion and is so thoughtful and intentional in how he shares the history of Roxbury. He is fun and engaging and has so much knowledge. I have loved working with him to collaborate on a few events and would recommend his tours to anyone looking to learn more about local Boston history.

Colin is such an amazing tour guide. He clearly has a connection to the community as well as making sure each person on the tour feels like a part of the group. He’s very knowledgeable about the area and makes the tour exciting and informative. I would definitely recommend taking a tour with Colin!

This was a great experience and a really interesting tour. I've lived in the Boston area all my life, but knew very little about its Black History and culture that has been so important to this city and country. Collin is an excellent guide. He has in-depth knowledge about Roxbury and is a gifted communicator. He really brought the history to life.

We learned a lot about Nubian square and its history, ate delicious food, and explored interesting stores and neighborhoods. My husband and I are looking forward to signing up for his other tours, as well as exploring more of Roxbury on our own.

Our work team had the pleasure of going on the Nubian Square tour as part of an annual retreat. The tour was even better than expected. Collin Knight is a fantastic guide, and it was great to learn about the history of the neighborhood and the richness of this community. We heard about prominent people who have shaped the area and took in architectural, artistic and restaurant highlights. Collin made the tour extremely enjoyable and customized it to our group's interests and time limit. He is a great ambassador for the community! At the end of the tour we all sat down at a local eatery. Collin's personable, positive energy made the entire experience enjoyable, from beginning to end.

I'm one of the Orientation Coordinators at Emerson College and we did the Live Like A Local Roxbury tour to see what it would be like if we were to implement it into our orientation program. It was a wonderful experience overall and I loved being able to see parts of the city that I will definitely be going back to and visiting! It was lovely to see the different shops and restaurants and get new students accustomed to seeing more diverse areas of downtown. I also enjoyed learning more about Boston's history with a focus more on the African American side of history because I value that as a Black person that lives in Boston. I had so much fun and I only hope that everyone else who has the opportunity to go on one of the tours has just as much fun as well!!

We had the best experience on Collin's Nubian Square Tour. We were professional association looking for an educational event, and I'm so glad we went with Live Like a Local Tours. Collin's enthusiasm and knowledge of the history and culture of Nubian Square is incredible. His overall mission with Live Like a Local Tours is to give back to the community through his tours, and I loved that we were able to visit some of his favorite businesses and eateries along the way. We met some great people, saw some of the most beautiful art, and had some delicious snacks. Live Like a Local Tours also planned and organized a networking event for our group following the tour at Slade's (also amazing!) that was the perfect ending to the tour. I highly recommend Live Like a Local Tours to anyone visiting (or already living in!) Boston!

Collin was friendly and knowledgeable and my son and I very much enjoyed having him as a guide to a part of Boston we had not experienced before. The tour was informative, well-timed and well-paced, and took us to places we will definitely visit again (especially the bookstore!) The murals were another highlight. Highly recommend to anyone!

Collin is the perfect tour guide and his enthusiasm for his many projects shine through in this tour. We did the 21+ JP walking tour and learned so much about the history of this vibrant neighborhood. Collin has the ability to make the people and stories come to life. I will do another tour with him next time I visit Boston. Highly recommend.

Collin did a great job introducing our group to a neighborhood we’d never explored, despite living in the Boston area. The tour was the perfect mix of the past, present and future of Roxbury, and opened up a whole world to continue exploring. The restaurant and distillery were both excellent! I encourage you to do a Live Like a Local Tour, whether you’re from the area or just visiting. There’s a fascinating history and vibrant culture beyond the Freedom Trail that’s worth a visit.
