I loved this !!! Initially I was concerned that the cost seemed high to me - but there was fantastic value here. Lauren is deeply experienced and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. Her curation of my specific trip was absolutely wonderful. I was not interested in the typical "tourist" activities - having visited the area many times. Lauren was able to find activties that enabled me to "live like an Italian," which was the goal of this visit. Her hotel selections were spot on. My trip was immeasurably better because of Lauren's savvy advice and arrangements. Can't wait to go back and see more of the area that Lauren knows so very well.

Cooking Vacations Italy is the very best company! My friends and I rented a boat for the day that picked us up in Positano and brought us all around Carpi. Our boat and captain were amazing and we had an incredible experience. If anyone needs a luxury boat rental on the Amalfi Coast use Lauren and Cooking Vacations!

I had the most amazing 7 days in Positano attending the Cooking Vacations school with hosted by Lauren and Rino. The accomodation was perfect and the whole experience was faultless. I learnt so much and ate so much, and being a single traveller Lauren and Rino went out of their way to make sure I was well taken care of at all times. The restaurant was beautiful and the head chef a great teacher. The tour to Capri and the road trips around Amalfi were also a wonderful experience. Highly recommend every aspect of this tour and the lovely Lauren and Rino. I will be back.

Everything was planned for us in a thoughtful manner, with time for relaxation but plenty of activities planned as well. We loved our cooking class and our boat cruise to Capri. We felt pampered and we appreciated the sweet additional touches and check ins throughout the week. We were a family of 4 - 2 adult children and parents. It was wonderful!

Our pizza cooking class today with Chef and Rosa…it was AMAZING! They were both fantastic doing a superb job of teaching us tips and tricks, letting us do lots of hands on preparing, and just generally excellent hosts! The food was fantastic. We feel like we could give these recipes a try at home.
We feel lucky to have gotten to spend the time with them. They had clearly gone to a lot of work to prepare for the class to ensure it ran smoothly.
Would recommend class to others!

Solo
I booked in with Cooking Vacations as a single thinking it would be a good option given I was travelling solo. I received a welcome pack at my hotel and instructed to go to a restaurant that evening for the "welcoming" dinner. However there was no one there to welcome us! I was fortunate to have sat next to a friendly couple at the restaurant however felt really uncomfortable as I expected the dinner to be attended at the very least by someone from Cooking Vacations - even if they had just showed up for a few minutes. Never saw a single staff member from Cooking Vacations for my whole trip. Only received instructions in the welcome pack to call them if anything went wrong.
The cooking classes attended weren't really cooking classes but cooking demonstrations. Paid so much to get the privilege of cracking an egg in a bowl. I could have organised this trip myself with much less cost had I have known the nature of their "customer service." With all that's available via the internet, it's much easier and cheaper to organise your own activities - car service, cooking classes, accommodation etc. Total rip off!

We offer 100% money back customer satisfaction, are on site dining with guests at the welcome dinner to go over itineraries and, and offer only hands-on cooking classes-we guaranted that. Even if you did not like anything that you reserved for, we would refund. A simple call and we will credit your money back. Please write or call for a refund, as that is our company policy. Thank you.

I booked a cooking class with Cooking Vacations from the US before our trip to Italy. I specifically called them to confirm that they would provide us with an English speaking chef, I saw other cheaper options but they all had a translator and I didn't think we would learn nearly as much if we went that direction. The person I spoke with on the phone assured me that their chefs all speak English. Well, that is false, since we were provided with an Italian speaking chef who had an assistant who translated the entire lesson. After I returned from vacation I emailed Cooking Vacations to tell them how disappointed I was and they flat out refused to do anything because I hadn't contacted them on the spot and asked for a refund. Further they tried to insist that the translator was a chef too, even though she clearly wasn't and she looked to the head chef before doing anything; he was obviously the one in charge. After spending $400 for 2 people to attend a 3 hour class, I would expect a little better customer service, but I should have known better. Repeat business isn't their bread and butter (pun intended).

Our Chef does speak English at our all cooking classes at Tre Sorelle and we guarantee that. We hope you understand that Giovanna and Luigi are the owners / Chefs/sommeiller of their Tre Sorelle and are always in the kitchen. They are on site to great Cooking Vacations' clients and are always there to streamline the experience in the kitchen and translate when necessary. We hope you understand the value of having owner / Chefs on site in the kitchen with you. We strive to deliver excellent hands-on culinary experiences and offer each client for any reason that window of opportunity to call us if not happy for a full refund. We hope you continue to cook and use your family recipes from Tre Sorelle. Joe Ercolano / Business Manager

I visited Italy recently with my wife, and attended “Cooking Vacations in Italy’s” pizza-making class in Positano. I was disappointed with the class for several reasons: I felt it did not provide educational content that lived up to the claims of the website (appropriate for “the professional pizza-maker who wants to expand their art and technique”); the highly-experienced Chef they promised spoke no English, and provided only limited comments for the translator; the class was hosted and taught almost exclusively by the restaurant owner, who while pleasant and engaging, isn’t the pizza expert they promised; the owner spent a substantial amount of the class time speaking about his family wine business, cheese and farming in Italy (and not in relation to pizza making); the class was presented as “hands-on”, but our involvement in the class was only very limited, and comprised very basic prep, such as slicing vegetables, and mixing and stretching the dough; and finally, we did not even put the toppings on our own pizza, put the pizza in the oven, or discuss how to “cook the pizza at the right temperature” or “turn it just the right way” in the oven. I felt this class had no advanced techniques or content that would be suitable for a professional, let alone an experienced home pizza chef like me. The claim on the website that children and beginners would enjoy the class is probably fair.
We complained to Cooking Vacations owner Lauren, who initially took our concerns seriously, and looked into the situation. She followed up with us to say that the restaurant owner “apologized for the inadequate experience”, and she arranged to refund half of our cost for the class. We then received an email from Cooking Vacations encouraging us to discuss our experience: “we would be thankful if you let us know-what you loved about about your visit… and what you would have loved ….” The email included a link directly to Cooking Vacation’s page on Trip Advisor. Following this email from Cooking Vacations, my wife posted a comment on Trip Advisor about our experience, including positive and negative points. Soon after, Lauren emailed my wife to say that we had broken a promise when we accepted the partial refund not to discuss our experience on travel websites (this was never discussed in our many email correspondences, and we certainly didn’t sign anything waiving our rights to express our opinions and free speech), she claimed our comments constituted defamation of character, and she threatened to sue us. Furthermore, Lauren falsely claimed my wife sat in on the class without paying (fact: my wife was at a spa treatment during my entire class, and only arrived at the end), and rudely told my wife that “guests like you we would rather not have in our kitchen”.
I would summarize my experiences with Cooking Vacations as good when they were taking my money, very bad when they provided the expensive services they promised, and insulting and threatening when we complained at the end.

Our cooking class was entirely hands on, the owner who was there to translates is also a trained pizza maker, who grew up in the kitchen making pizza all his life. During the class when asked if you liked everything, you never complained but wanted refund. You were refunded. We are so very sorry that even after you stayed, dined and called Lauren for more recipes to follow, she sent them. We stand behind each and every cooking class, tour and program with a money back guarantee.

To start out Lauren and Melody are very sweet and obliging helping you spend your money with their company. Everything is set up by them and you have to pay way in advance way before you even get there. They insist that you take out travel insurance with their partnered insurance company because they know that you are going to need it when traveling with them. We spent six wonderful days in Positano and did three days in cooking classes set up by CV. The cooking school was a big attraction for us and we had booked three days, paying full price for these classes which were supposed to be in three different restaurants in Positano. We were squeezed into the same restaurant twice with similiar menus on those days, therefore making the same food twice. The day trips were rushed with no time to enjoy and take in these beautiful surroundings. There were many conflicts regarding travel arrangements leaving us inconvenienced twice in a country that we knew very little about. We figured out later that we were way overcharged for transportation by CV, and when we had to get some where on our own (in a limo) we payed so much less it was amazing. After we were paid in full there was no personal interaction with the owners and if we called them they were very evasive with their answers. If Positano is a dream of a lifetime for you....I say go and enjoy this wonderful place...however, beware if you book with Cooking Vacations International.

Cooking Vacations Italy offers a 100% customer satisfaction and a 24 hour/7 day Guest Line guarantee. If at any time anyone is dissatisfied one just need to raise their hand and let us know. By Law each kitchen, based on their size can only host 4, or 6, or 8-no more. Classes are held in professionally approved kitchens and controlled by officials. We are sorry you had airport delays however those “travel arrangements are not our fault,” and we do encourage Travel Insurance due to there frequent delays, long security checks/lost luggage and the way travel is today, insurances covers any inconveniences and losses. The excursions provided for our Groups by Cooking Vacations are on time, remain for the duration Amalfi/Ravello 7 hours, etc, are clearly written and always adhered to. Any client who needs more time certainly can remain on from the Group's departure time, -just let us know. All services and their respective prices with “professional tours/guides” (not unlicensed) are published and made known before anyone purchases them. Our Staff is on site and personally meets each client at the check in/welcome dinner and during the experience. If you had questions/miscommunications we are sorry, we are here 24/7 and offer every opportunity to call us. Happy Cooking and hope you understand. Joe –Manager/Cooking Vacations.

While the cooking class states 'Hands On', the class itself actually requires very little hands on. Most of the work is done by the chef while you watch. The main dish was cooked while we were told to wait in the restaurant seating area. Once the main dish was complete, they explained to us how they created it. We have been to multiple hands-on classes before were you do all the work, which is how we prefer it. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who wants to be included in the preparation itself.

Cooking Vacations' cooking classes are hands on; however your young child, as the Terms explain participate in everything, except the use of the very big sharp knives and open fires. Kitchen safety rules are for every child's safety. You were asked to step back from the fire, not from the kitchen. We wished you would have addressed this to us when we were altogether in class for a 100% money back guarantee-as offered to you, you declined. Please call us and let us know if you would like a credit or another class, as we strive for 100% customer satisfaction. Our KIDS COOKING
