We were visiting Boston as a family for the first time (with our 18 and 16 yr olds) and as lovers of food were wanting to find a food tour of the North End. We struck gold.
Bobby's North End Boston Food Tour was three hours of fascinating stories about growing up in the North End of Boston combined with delicious food from the locals.
It was a hot morning in Boston (86 degrees +) so when Bobby showed up with a cool bottle of water for everyone we knew he was going to have thought of everything.

Bobby made a guarantee that if anyone went away from the tour hungry they would receive their money back. He was in no danger of that happening. From delicious pizza to sandwiches, pastries, cheese, olive oil and balsamic the food kept on coming. Because of the heat Bobby had also arranged for us to eat our sandwich in a local establishment - which was very welcome.

I lost count of the number of people who knew Bobby and stopped to say hello - each one with a story or a joke.
It was a privilege to spend 3 hours in his company and I would recommend this food tour to anyone as a completely authentic and enjoyable experience.

Great Experience!!! Bobby led us to the well known and hidden gems of the North End (bakeries, salumerie and restaurants). We sampled pizza, an Italian sub, prosciutto, Italian pastries and olive oil to name just a few of the authentic foods we tasted. We were introduced to a pastry called sfogliatelle. It is a delicate layered pastry filled with orange flavored ricotta - to die for. And, what is a tour of the North End without a cannoli from Mike's Pastry. Bobby grew up and still lives in the North End and shared his experiences and insights into how the North End has changed over the last 50 plus years. So informative. I would highly recommend this tour whether you are visiting Boston or, like me, live only 30 minutes away.

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Boston. It was like taking a step back in time. Having a true north ender give the tour made all the difference. He knew history and people and little nooks and crannies that all the commercial tours did not have. Matter fact, when you’re “‘touring with Bobby, you don’t wait for nothin’”. Lines that were wrapped around the block we walked right past and received our food while hearing about the rich history of the restaurants, politics, churches, family life, and more. I would recommend anyone take this tour.

Side note: one of the people we were touring with, was with his aunt, who is with us from Sicily…. his father (aunt’s brother), who it since passed away, had painted a picture for a local bookstore. He told the story to Bobby. Bobby knew exactly where the bookstore was and added it to our tour. The owner came out and told the man that his father, the artist, used to come in and sing at his store. The son was able to tell the owner that he was so proud to have his painting in that store. They reminisced of the man’s father, and what a joy he was to this world. Only a local person could’ve provided that on the tour!

This food tour was, without a doubt, the best food tour we’ve been on. We do a food tour in pretty much every city we visit, it is usually the third thing we plan, after flights and whatever reason we’re heading to the destination.

Not only did we have great food, and seriously good portions of food, but the experience of walking through these neighborhoods with one of its long time residents can’t be matched in any other tour. If you read through more of the reviews, you’ll hear a common observation, and that is that Bobby knows everyone, and everyone knows Bobby. We really felt like we were touring with North End Royalty. We all felt so special. This tour is more than just great food, the stories about the area and what it was like to grow up there really were heartwarming. Like I said, this was special.

This tour was a great value, it seriously should be higher priced just for the amount of food you’ll enjoy. To top it all off, Bobby gave us recommendations for dinner that night, and when we arrived without reservations, we told them he sent us and they squeezed us in. Bonus!

There are larger tour companies out there that you might be familiar with, they don’t hold a candle to this experience.

Pamela thank you for this great review. There are many tours in the North End (Little Italy) but I have a passion for the place I grew up and still live that is why my tour is second to none and all the delicious food we eat is just a bonus. Let’s talk about the peasant food that is served on my tour it is the true connection to this wonderful neighborhood (pizza Italian sandwich cannoli arancini and sfogliatella are all truly Italian). There is no other tour as authentic as this. I’m very happy the you enjoyed your experience and hope to see again in the future be well Best Bobby Agrippino

We had a fabulous food tour of the North End with Bobby Agrippino. He is a life long resident of the neighborhood, having been born on Hanover St. I felt like we were taking a stroll through his life punctuate and accented by food. I lost count of the number of folks who stopped for a second to share a brief word with Bobby. He is like a local hero. He is a very personable guy, and we immediately felt at ease with him and happily listened to his stories about the North End, about growing up in the neighborhood, about the history of the area, and of course about the great Italian establishments which define the area. If you take the tour, come hungry. We started out with a great slice of pan pizza, followed up with visits to a couple of salumerias (essentially Italian delis). We had a marvelous Italian sandwich (salami, mortadella, provolone, cherry tomato relish, olive oil, etc—it was to die for!!!!). We also did a tasting of cheese with truffles, prosciutto, olive oil and the most marvelous balsamic vinegar-sweet enough to top ice cream with. We visited an old times coffee shop that offered 40 different types of coffee beans, lots of teas, etc. we were gifted a small sample of ground coffee to take home. For the wonderful food, the history of the neighborhood examined through food and the food shops, and the engaging storytelling of our guide, I can only offer my most hearty BRAVO!!!! Take this tour—you won’t be disappointed. Bobby is the taste of the North End.

My fiancé and I just made a trip to Boston for the weekend and we have heard so many amazing things about the North End Boston Food Tour that we couldn’t pass this up! Our experience was unforgettable. Bobby is the absolute BEST tour guide and kindest man in the North End (if not all of Boston)! Not only was the authentic food incredible, but seeing the passion and knowledge Bobby shared about this community was such an insightful experience. He truly made us all feel like a part of the North End community instead of tourists. We were amazed at how many people we passed by on the streets during the tour that were so excited to see Bobby and what was even more impressive is that he called each of them by name. After the tour, Bobby helped us find a reservation at a great restaurant that night. He went above and beyond to make our weekend so special! We will certainly be back to see our new friend and enjoy the best food in the North End!

Even though it was gloomy and rainy Robert didn’t let it phase his tour and even called in a favor to get us back to an indoor spot to eat our food. He is beyond knowledgeable as a lifelong North End native and can give additional recommendations in and out of the area. He’s a passionate, charismatic and genuine Italian. Don’t go anywhere else and be disappointed. Well worth the money because no one leaves without a full belly and possibly some extra food you couldn’t finish. I will recommend to everyone who comes to visit.

This was the best food tour my wife and I have ever been on. Bobby (owner/guide) grew up in the North End so not only is he sharing his food with us, he's sharing stories, history, and events beyond the restaurants. And this was the first one where we got full portions and not just a taste or bite. Definitely check this one out in Boston! Over 3 hours because we were just not eating, we were learning about the buildings, and restaurants and shops, past and present. And you knew he was authentic because so many cars, pedestrians, and shop owners stopped to tell us about Bobby and/or their history together. What an experience.

This was a fantastic experience all the way around. I booked the tour for my wife and daughter the week before but my daughter got sick that day and we couldn't make it. Bobby was more than understanding and accommodating so we ended up rescheduling for the next weekend and bringing a bunch of our friends and their kids (6 adults, 3 kids between the ages of 10-15).

From the minute we met up with Bobby you could tell he was the real deal. Being from Boston, I wanted to make sure we have an authentic experience with someone who wasn't just from the area, but had grown up in the North End and could tell us about the real history of the neighborhood, not what you can read in a book like most of the other tour guides.

He took us to bakeries down alleyways I had never seen before and introduced us to shops I would have never noticed otherwise. The entire time we walked he told stories of growing up in the North End and what it used to be like. More than a few old timers stopped to say hi to Bobby while he was giving us the tour and told us he was the best in the business.

I couldn't recommend Bobby highly enough for anyone looking for a real, true, authentic North End experience.

The North End Boston Food Tour was the highlight of our trip to Boston! (Shh... don't tell the bride and groom of the wedding we were there to attend.) Bobby brought his "North End local" energy and family anecdotes to genuinely personalize this tour experience. Our group was well-fed and thoroughly entertained. We were treated to the best bites at hard-to-find places that, now that we've found them, we'll be visiting again and again. Even if you think you know the North End, Bobby will show you something you've never seen.  Highly recommended.
