About
It's a known secret that Jamaica Plain -- or "JP" to the locals -- has some of the tastiest and freshest food in Boston, but it's a bit hidden from the "beaten path" destinations such as nearby Fenway Park. We'll sample delicious eats on this unique food and historical walking tour adventure. This tour explores the city center of Centre Street.

We dud the walking chocolate tour to celebrate Father's Day with my Dad in Cambridge. Liz was an amazing tour guide! She was full of interesting information, was able to answer all of our random questions, and was so personable. The stops along the tour were great and it was so fun being able to taste treats we would have otherwise never tried. We cannot recommend Liz and the tour enough!!

My girlfriend and I just recently moved to Boston, and went on this food tour as a way to get to know the neighborhood. We had never been on a food tour before, so we weren't sure what to expect, but this one set the bar high! The guide was friendly and effective, and had all sorts of interesting facts about the neighborhood. It was a great way to get to know the neighborhood while sampling different restaurants that we definitely plan to return to. I would recommend this tour to anyone who is looking to learn more about JP, or just try some delicious food outside the everyday norm.

My lovely daughter and new son-in-law took my significant other & I on this fabulous tour as a thank you for doing their recent wedding. What a terrific way to thank someone! My daughter and I both have dairy allergies, so we were thrilled that we could eat all the chocolate (a rarity in our world). The tour leader, Beth, was terrific - I learned an incredible amount about chocolate, cacao growing, production, etc. Her experience as a chocolatier was an added bonus. I also loved going to Jamaica Plain, an area I'm not very familiar with. We visited 5 lovely small businesses, quite family oriented and several family owned. All had wonderful products, and their passion was almost palpable. You do NOT need to be vegan to enjoy this tour - non-vegan & even dairy inclusive chocolates are available. I also like the fact that it wasn't just candy -we had drinks, frozen desserts as well. Heaps of fun & a great afternoon!

I loved that the tour took us into places that didn't necessarily market themselves as chocolate-focused locations but still demanded quality in the chocolate they supplied to their consumers. The tour guide was very pleasant and had so much information to offer!

My husband and I enjoy doing food tours to explore new neighborhoods, so we were excited to try the JP food tour. It pains me not to give a higher rating; but, since it is still a new tour, I have faith it will get there. First, our tour guide, Angela, was really friendly and clearly a people person. It was also clear that JP residents care very much about their neighborhood, and we genuinely enjoyed getting to see a different area. Highlights were getting to go inside Taylor House B&B, which had been painstakingly restored, and the Turtle Swamp Brewery. The group of people we were with were also a fun bunch. With that, there just wasn’t much food on the tour and the food selected was not particularly noteworthy (other than the halva, but the portion was tiny). We do not have huge appetites, but we ended up going back to Citi Feed for a sandwich afterward. It would have also been nice to get a better sense of the evolution of the neighborhood - other than the background on the name of Centre Street and the fact that there were two Olmsted-designed green spaces, the rest of the information provided was rather vague. Great tours encourage patrons to return (through the strength of the food, coupons or talking it up directly for other meals, etc) but that connection was not really made. The potential is there, but there were just missed opportunities. All the best, though, to the company as they continue to hone the tour.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful feedback on our tour. We are glad that you enjoyed getting to know JP and our wonderful guide Angela who spoke extensively about how this neighborhood has evolved. We were surprised to hear that you were still hungry as we remember your being offered seconds that the guests were too full to eat; most of our guests leave our tours very stuffed! Also we are the lowest price tour in the market at $55 per guest versus upwards of $90. But we will take your feedback to heart and will consider offering an additional stop on the tour. There is a digital guide that's sent to all of our guests who register that I hope you received with coupons, discounts, and suggestions for additional things to do in the area and places to eat. We are highlighting small, independent businesses and we were happy to take you on a private tour of the historical mansion that you'd otherwise not have access to, a behind-the-scenes brewery tour that regular guests don't have, and even speaking to owners at the lebanese restaurant and halva cafe which is quite special. We hope that others try our new tour that we've worked hard on and are proud of and hope to see you all on a future tour. Please note that we have also offered you a refund via email should you choose to take us up on it, as we never want to disappoint, and we also welcome additional feedback be emailed to us because as a small company we rely on it to make our tours better! We are happy that you enjoyed the experience and wish you all the best in your future travels.

Guide was good & knowledgeable of the places we stopped, other restaurants & shops in Jamaica Plain & even gave us history of JP. The tour included 4 stops with sampling. We got a sample of Vegan ice cream (coconut milk based) at FOMU, a Chocolate store, Carrot Flower - where we had a sample of what looks like a chocolate truffle that was very good. It was Dates, walnuts, cocao, vanilla, sugar & a touch of salt. And we finished at an Italian bakery - Fiore's Bakery - we were given a cold truffle which was chocolate covered with a peanut butter inside (made with rice crispys and peanut butter).
The disappointing part was the chocolate store - the owner was not there & the 2 women who were did not have any knowledge about how the products are made or the story behind the shop. The guide provided us with more information. WE were told we were going to sample several single origin chocolates (got 1 piece the size of my finger nail), some cocao juice & nuts,

Thank you so much for your great review of the tour! We are glad you were able to meet and chat with owner Audrey at Carrot Flower but unfortunately Leo was unexpectedly not in that day. Luckily he's typically there for the tours. Another cool thing is trying cacao juice, the fruit of the cacao, which is quite rare! Our guide loved meeting you. Anyways hope to meet you again on future tours!

There were 4 of us taking the tour, and the small group size was ideal. Had ice cream, chocolate bark, brownie bites, and buckeyes! Very tasty and an overall fun and informative experience. JP was also a nice area to be in. Per our guide’s recommendation, we walked over to Turtle Swamp brewery afterward, too. Such an enjoyable day!

Great food tour of Jamaica Plain! Our tour guide, Beth was very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and led a great tour. We enjoyed every stop of the tour and I was very glad that there was such a variety of food. I was definitely full by the end! I would highly recommend this to people of all ages, visitors and locals alike! The stops were not very far apart (longest walk was maybe 15 minutes).
