Ted our guide gave us an intimate and historic tour of Boston neighborhoods. Our group of 4 toured for 2 1/2 hours learning about the history of colonial Boston. The city is rich with history and Ted is funny, enthusiastic and passionate of his beloved Boston and is happy to share with tourists. The Freedom Trail is a great way to see Boston and with Ted and Hub Town Tours we had an amazing experience.

Fall is the ideal time to explore Boston, with our cooler temps and colorful leaves! I'm really pleased to hear you could tell how much I love Boston and its history—always excited to share my favorite city with everyone!

The private (affordable for our group of 8!) two hour welcome tour of the Freedom Trail was the perfect way to see these sites. Ted is of course knowledgeable when it comes to Boston, the Freedom Trail and history, but additionally he really took our comfort into consideration on a hot morning in the city, guiding us to shaded areas and seating before telling us about a site. He is very engaging, gives an excellent tour with the background of issues at each site, and it feels like hanging out with a friend rather than someone you just met or a dry historian. The time flew by and the walking was easy. Everyone in our group, even the teens, agreed a tour really was the best way to see the Freedom Trail and we all would highly recommend Ted and Hub Town Tours.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write such a glowing review, Carolyn! As group sizes on the Freedom Trail grow ever larger, we set ourselves apart by offering only private and small-group experiences—it's impossible to enjoy the history on a hot day, stuck in the sun in a crowded mob. Hope to see you in Boston again soon!

We had a private tour of the Freedom Trail. Two families with children in third through fifth grade. We were a little worried about a 3 hour walking tour with the kids initially. We asked Ted to break out our tour into 2 hour and 1 hour segments, with lunch in between and he was very accommodating. Ted kept our 4 children engaged for the entire time of the tour. He told stories about the road to the American Revolution that made it fun and engaging. Ted was amazing, to say the least. Despite the cold weather and rain on the day we did the tour, our kids didn’t complain at all because Ted made the tour so fun for them. He had pictures with him that helped the kids follow along with the story. HIGHLY recommend doing this tour with Ted. Thank you to Ted for a fun educational tour!

It was my pleasure. Your idea to divide the tour into two parts with lunch in the middle was an excellent approach; I might start using that tour model all the time! Thank you so much for braving the inclement weather this past weekend, and it's wonderful learning how much you and the kids enjoyed my narrative approach to Boston's history. Old maps and portraits always help to bring a story to life!

My family of four had a private tour of the Freedom Trail with Ted and it was outstanding. We learned quite a few new, important details about the events leading up to the American Revolution and Ted weaved in the sites masterfully. Ted definitely left us wanting more.

Thank you very much, John—there's always more history to experience in Boston! I do try to cut myself off at two or three hours, but please don't hesitate to contact us if you're in Boston again soon! There are so many fascinating stories along the Freedom Trail...

I can't say enough fantastic things about Ted and his tour. We had a private, all day tour, with him and he brought the lead up to the Revolutionary War and the War itself to life with his historical knowledge and story telling ability. He kept our entire family engaged for an entire day walking throughout Boston. His incredible recollection of detail and true passion for what he's explaining to us made it so enjoyable to learn from him. He is personable, funny, and filled with knowledge about US history. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for a tour of the Freedom Trail and Boston. He absolutely exceeded our expectations and it was one of the best private tours we have ever had!!!

Thank you, sincerely, for writing us such an exceptional review! While most of our tours stick to Downtown Boston and the North End, we're always happy to extend the tour over to Charlestown on a full-day Freedom Trail excursion. Have a great rest of your time exploring the East Coast—just don't let Philadelphia fool your family into thinking it all started there! :)

We took the private Freedom Trail private tour. It is our first time in Boston. We highly recommend Ted (founder and tour guide) and Hub Town Tours. He kept us captivated, including two 15 year old teenagers, with so many interesting facts about the Freedom Trail, Boston, and the people who were part of America’s historical start. Well worth the money!

Sarah was extremely knowledgeable and was able to tell a story from beginning to end while weaving in the facts. So much better than just having someone providing historical facts and then moving on to the next historical place.

Sarah always made sure to ask if anyone in the group had any questions.

Would definitely recommend the tour to anyone visiting Boston.

I did a 3 hours tour in January with my 13 yo daughter. It was absolutely freezing, awful. And yet, we had a blast. It was amazing to learn about Boston’s History in such a lively way with pictures. Ted is very knowledgeable, kind and funny. My daughter said, if in class History was taught the same way, she would listen way more! So we did again the tour last week with the whole family, this time with 4 kids. 3 Pre-teens and a 7 yo. This time it was extremely hot and humid. I thought they were barely paying attention. Was not very impressed by my kids 🤣. And yet, after the tour they all said they really enjoyed it and had different anecdotes to share about the tour. When he came back home, one of them mentioned the freedom trail immediately to some friends asking about our trip! My husband said he could have gone for another 3 hours!! And I heard him raving about the tour and the fantastic guide to some of his friends. Do yourself a favor, do this tour. And Ted was an incredible resource to help me ( emails) when I had questions regarding Boston in general. Thanks Ted for bringing back History 😀.

From frigid January to steamy August, thank you for braving Boston's most extreme weather with me! It's really rewarding to hear how much your family enjoyed touring the Freedom Trail, despite the blazing heat. Visit us again sometime when the weather is a little more temperate—I promise, Boston is really quite nice most of the year! :)

This tour was fabulous. Our tour guide, Dana, was absolutely top quality. We’re a bunch of thirty-something siblings doing a history tour of the Northeast, and this tour was everything we hoped/wanted. Even the other group on the tour with us was a delight. The Boston weather was not on our side, but Dana made sure we had cover where we stopped. But most importantly, the historical context Dana brought was insightful and moving. What a story, what a history! I cannot express enough how much we loved this tour. Thank you!!

Thank you so much for the fantastic review of Dana's tour! Boston is a must-see for any history buff, we're so glad it did not disappoint. Thank you for supporting a local business, and come back for our Civil War era tour of Beacon Hill.

Phenomenal tour. Small group kept it intimate and Ted brought fantastic passion for Boston and its heritage. The stroll through the Freedom Trail felt like a journey into the past, and we barely noticed the hundreds of tourists on lesser guided experiences. Could not recommend more for anyone coming to Boston for the first time.

Thank you so much for leaving a 5-star review! Our small-group, public tours are set apart from other tour companies in Boston because we limit our group size to a maximum of 16 guests. As you noticed, Boston is full of tourists this time of year, but its a great experience with a Hub Town guide.
