Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. This park named after a State Senator Joseph Langone and his wife Clementine sits right on the waterfront on Commercial Street and down from Copps Hill. There is a Little League baseball field and Bocce Courts. Nothing else. However, the view of the bay and bridges is nice. A good spot for a brown bag lunch.

We made our way to Langone Park, because our son was insistent on seeing the plaque commemorating The Great Molasses Flood of 1919 that he had learned about in school. It is sad that the plaque is all there is representing this piece of history. After finding the plaque, we then found some benches by the water to sit down and eat our cannoli’s from Mike’s. Nice peaceful place to spend some downtime in the North End of Boston.

My daughter wanted to see the plaque for the molasses flood (school thing) but the park was closed. I did not see that on any site as I was preparing for trip.
