Neighborhood: Downtown
The largest area of the city, Downtown is rich with historical and iconic sites in Boston. Stroll through one of Boston’s most famous green spaces, the Boston Public Gardens, check out and make way for duckling statues, picnic under a beautiful tree overlooking the pond, and walk over the iconic footbridge where, during summer time, you will catch a swan boat toting children and eager tourists through the pond. Have your camera ready to capture its peaceful beauty in the middle of a bustling city. Continue on through the Gardens and take in some open green space at the Boston Common, where you can spend time throwing a frisbee, sitting on a park bench, or, in the winter time, skating on the frog pond. Head north from the end of the Common to see the golden dome of the State House, and travel through government center to Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall, both a historic and popular destination worth a quick visit for a first time to Boston. Head to Long Wharf to visit the Aquarium, or catch a boat to Charlestown or even Cape Cod.

    So Enjoyable!
Both my husband and I enjoyed the fun, the food and meeting new people. We had so much fun hunting for clues and talking with the actors. They made fun of people and we are still chuckling over some of their comments. The music was also enjoyable, The mansion was beautiful and I wish we could have seen the grounds in the daytime. Parking and getting there was very easy. Well worth the price. The shuttle from the parking lot to the front door was wonderful. The prizes were creative and fun.

    Almost Excellent
Three tips for improvement: 1. the table side comedy can happen during the dinner. Although it was entertaining it got a little old and ultimately all of the comments I heard at my table of ten was that we all had wished we had more time in the various rooms. 2. Better verbal explanation of exactly what we were looking for half of our group did not understand the significance of the "clues" 3. There is an Endicott house and an Endicott Estate mentioning this would be nice as our party ushered to the wrong address and had to get another and the woman at the estate said that it happens ALL of the time,

Great way to celebrate the BIG 6 oh!
My family arranged for this evening in honor of my 60th birthday. What a fantastic idea for sure. The meal was delicious. The mansion was an excellent spot for a murder mystery. The best part was how interactive the actors were. They all worked so hard to make everyone feel included and bonded with the visitors. Mrs. White was one of my favorite. She displayed a very outgoing and funny personality. It was just an amazing way to spend an evening with family and friends. I would sure recomend it to anyone looking for a fun filled unusual evening. Good food, time to visit and an exciting interactive activity to get all up and out of their seats.

    Never happened
Cancelled due to the pandemic. We tried cancelling over a month ago, when we knew we wouldn't be travelling to a "hot spot" of Covid-19. Still have not not received a refund to our credit card for the show and hotel.

    So Much Fun
I've attended many murder mystery type dinners. This was by far the best. The actors were clever, funny, entertaining. The music added to fun and laughs. The entire night was very well done. We stayed overnight in the mansion which was also well worth the money!! The only improvement I would recommend is the breakfast - if that's what you call it. Skimpy and no place to sit and eat?

Clue murder mystery dinner. MIT Endicott House (Dedham, MA)
Excellent dinner with many choices which was served buffet style. The actors playing the parts of the clue characters were absolutely amazing! They seat the guests in two or three different dining rooms, and merge everyone together when it's time to start searching for clues throughout the mansion. My only complaint for the entire event was that there were too many people squeezed into the six rooms to search for clues since everyone ate at the same time, and then searched for clues at the same time. They could maybe stagger the dinner times and have each dining room search for clues separately? I also felt like there wasn't enough time to do the clue searching. I felt like a majority of the night was spent on dinner and down time, and the search for the killer, weapons, etc was too cramped into the last hour or so of the evening. I am putting this all out there as general thoughts and suggestions, however I'm still giving it a 5-star review because even without these changes, the dinner was an awesome night out in a one-of-a-kind setting, and was a ton of fun! There were nine adults in our party and we all agreed that it would be something we would do again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!!!

    What a fun night!
We weren't sure what to expect. It's not like there is a lot of Medieval Dinner Theater around. It was great! The actors seemed to be having fun in their roles, interacted with the audience well and the music was fun. There were a handful of teenage kids at our show and the actors kept the material PG (but still funny). The setting is more intimate than I expected, about 40 people, but I think that added to the night. It was also nice to hang out afterwards at the Elephant and Castle upstairs.

Thundering Applause for Mystery Cafe Troupe
A Mystery Café troupe was hired to perform out of state at a conference/dinner/theatre. The talent that exuded throughout the entire evening was extraordinaire. Communication was detailed and executed flawlessly. Staff gave rave reviews on the performance. Lots of laughter prevailed and engaging the audience. The vocals were harmonic and soul moving with the clear, high octaves, dancing, the improvisation, the content that was created to our requests were fulfilled. I will have them back for more performance ~ they were that entertaining, talented and professional. I highly recommend this group of talent. The New England Fun Company was just that!

Haunted Dinner Theater at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem!
We bought tickets to the Haunted Dinner Theater at the Hawthorne Hotel in Salem and had a wonderful time! The actors were great and did a wonderful job portraying the witches and characters in 1692. The story line was great and we would definitely love to see more shows put on by them. This is definitely not your usual murder mystery dinner because the story is the focus with choosing the murderer in the background of the story. The food put out by the Hawthorne was great with a good variety along with desserts. My boyfriend was picked to play a small role within the show of the Doctor and it was so much fun! Great show :)

We went to the Mystery Cafe this past Saturday night - 3 couples - all in our early 60's. The cafe is actually a room on the lower level of the Elephant and Castle bar and restaurant (they also have Karaoke). When we first walked into the room, the majority of the people there seemed to be half - or even less than half our age. It's a fairly large, square room set up with large rectangular tables for 10. We ended up sitting with a family of four - parents and two teenage daughters. We were greeted by some of the characters in the play and escorted to our tables. Since we arrived a bit late, the people sitting at our table had already been in the process of eating their salads. A few minutes later, we received our cesar salads and the "play" began. The actors are literally in your midst as they act out "Who Killed the Boss". They actively interact with the audience and move around the room so they can engage all the diners. The "play" reaches it's climax (the murder of the boss), at which point there's an intermission where the actors become the waiters and bring out the entrees. You have to choose your entrees a couple of days before attending - three options were available - pasta, chicken or steak ($5 extra for steak). We all chose the chicken and it was surprisingly good - very nicely seasoned and served with a baked potato and green beans. After the dinner plates were removed, each person was handed a sheet where you are asked to give your best guess as to who killed the boss. Following dessert (Boston Cream Pie was served), they pick the best/funniest ones and read them outloud to the audience. Then, the play resumes and we find out who actually did "kill the boss". By the way, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are served at a cash bar.

I prefaced this by saying that we went in with no expectations and in fact, had a surprisingly good time. Was it a tad hokey - probably. Nonetheless, if you keep an open mind and don't take yourself too seriously, you can have a fun time with friends and family.

Way too much time spent on dinner and not enough for the exploring of the mansion looking for clues and talking to the characters. We only had about a half hour, would have loved at least an hour or more.
