I bought tickets through livingsocial. I bought tickets for 8 people as it was my birthday so I figured they would run the tour since I had bought so many. They cancelled on me by text a few days before. It seems like a lot of people had the same experience so I'd stay away.

They didn't tell me the tour was cancelled until I contacted customer service when I was waiting at the meeting location. I was super bummed that I paid to come across town only to be told at 2:58 the tour wasn't happening. I asked for a refund and have not heard anything back from their customer service either..

The Drunk History of Boston Tour meets at the Brewer Fountain in Boston Common and walks to four different bars until you are at Fanueil Hall Marketplace. In between each bar, there is a stop with some history. Overall, I found this tour an absolute waste of money and time and recommend, except in certain circumstances, you find a different tour. I'll list the negatives but also, to be fair, some positives. Negative #1: The amount of history was very little and, at times, inaccurate. The history stops each lasted at best 2-4 minutes. At one point, we had to correct the tour guide that Benjamin Franklin was not buried in Granary Buriel Ground but in Philadelphia. The guide took the correction well. Negative #2: The beer at the first three stops was Bud Light in a plastic Dixie Cup. At the 4th and final bar, you are able to pick a beer off the menu. It's a small beer. If you are an avid lover of good beer, avoid this tour for this reason alone. Negative #3: "Drunk History" gives the idea that you get a history of alcohol or inebriation. No. You get to get drunk if Bud Light does it for you. Negative #4: The bars chosen aren't chosen for history. They are chosen to fit the potential size of tour. There is no historical significance to any of these bars, except, perhaps, the last. Negative #5: The bars chosen tended to be loud, with music, so conversation was difficult. Positive #1: Our tour guide was a nice fellow, who was a standup comedian by night and working this tour to pay his bills. He was friendly, chipper, and a good guy. Positive #2: If three Bud Lights and one other small beer can get you drunk over the course of 2-3 hours, then the tour will be a "drunk" history tour for you. Positive #3: I happened to go with my Aunt and Uncle and a friend from out of state. I was mortified to have invited my friend to travel all the way from NY for this tour, as he agreed that "it sucked" but our group enjoyed hanging out and talking. The tour did get us together for that. We just decided to find our own tour or bars next time.

Myself and a group of friends went on this tour during our visit to the states. We all play together in our local football team back in sunny blighty so were used to a good old knees up and were missing the pub atmosphere we are used to. Well this certainly helped us feel more at home. We visited some great pubs and bars and got royally drunk along the way. Our guide was very knowledgeable when it came to the locations and drinks served. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a fun evening.

We hit lucky on this tour. Our tour was on Halloween party night which created a tremendous atmosphere wherever we were. The first pub that we visited was quiet, but after that, the party feeling lifted up a couple of notches. The guide was fun and informative and also managed to handle all personalities. The tour ended at an old, historic Irish pub near Farneuil market place where most people were happy to linger longer. Overall, a most enjoyable evening.
