I camp here a couple of times a year and the campground is lovely, but the rude managing hosts completely ruin the overall experience. Literally every time I’ve been here they have been rude! They are also so intrusive they come lurking around continuously. The...More

Tried to go tent camping here, knew several weeks in advance we were trying to go here, however, they do not take reservations for tent sites. All the tent sites are walk-up, first available. So, I called the day before our trip to find out...More

Lake Powhatan is a National Forest Service campground, very scenic and surprisingly well maintained. Beautiful flat gravel sites, each differently shaped, all wooded and much more private than at most campgrounds. The sites are raked after checkout and there is NO litter. Plenty of trails...More

Yes, plenty of hiking trails to take the pets on. However, they are not allowed on the beach part of the lake. There is some shady picnic tables we took turns sitting at with our dog while the kids played on the beach.
