Frankly, this review could apply to almost any large mall in the U.S. right now. Many stores are closing and the pandemic is just making things worse. We were in town and stopped by on a Saturday night to grab a bite at The Doner kebab place and to look around. I didn't notice and particularly unique stores and the layout was odd, at one point it seemed we circled back on ourselves. The food court was busy and seemed to attract many families. Anyway, we enjoyed our meal and bought a book at Barnes & Noble. Otherwise, nothing else really appealed to us.

My family visited the Mall on Sunday, May 31st. We arrived around 5pm unknowing that the mall closed at 6pm on Sundays. We didn't really have enough time to make it through the entire mall but everything seemed nice. However, the very strong cologne smell when you enter the mall by the food court was horrible. A little before 6 we went back to the food court to eat before our travel home. Our food was put in to go boxes which told us that we were not welcome to stay and eat. If I had know that, we wouldn't have eaten there. There were several guests in a section by the escalators eating so we thought it might be okay if we sat down real quick and ate. Before I could set the boxes down on the table a security guard jumped on us yelling at us that it was after 6 and there would be now food consumed in the food court after 6. I was so embarrassed. Could he not of polity asked that we take our food with us? I left in tears. I do not appreciate being yelled at, and especially in front of others. He made us feel like we were trying to vandalize the building or something. How dare we consider eating the food we had purchased at the tables provided. I do think that the mall should consider longer hours on Sunday. We were not the only ones being rushed out. We will not be back either way though.

Antiquated mall from the 80's.
Poor lighting, dirty carpets.
There are a few decent stores and a bunch of kiosks selling stretch pants and knock off designer sunglasses...

One would think that whoever is in charge of the large backlit map/directories of stores would bother to post a “You Are Here” notation on the map. No such luck. If you’re unfamiliar with the layout of the Mall, you can start to walk in one direction—only to discover that you have to turn around and walk in the other direction. Yes, this is annoying.

Lately, there has been a problem with teenagers running rampant and starting fights in the Mall. This has lead to some very strict rules about not allowing “underage” people in after certain hours. Specifically, the rules state, “Asheville Mall visitors under 18 are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 years or older on Friday and Saturday evenings after 5 p.m., or at any other time the policy is in effect.” Hopefully, this will eliminate any dangerous disruptions.

It won’t, however, do anything positive for the lack of signage.

Today myself and two toddlers were discriminated against today by the Asheville Mall. Myself and group of friends were sitting at the far back of the food court casually talking. While there I was feeding the 18 month old boys their lunch. I have to pack their lunch due to severe food allergies, and have done so for a while now. They were finished eating and I was bending over picking up all of the food they had dropped on the floor, so that the mall wouldn't have to clean it up. When a supervisor for there housekeeping department said that I could not feed them their lunch since I had not purchased it from one of the food vendors. I stated that they had food allergies but he replied it doesn't matter. I then went to complain to the management office, and again was treated poorly and given a complete lack of concern. At that point I concluded my business at the mall and didn't purchase what I had came for. However, mall employees frequently pack their lunch and eat it in the food court, as well as there is a mall walker program that has breakfast and brings outside food. I feel if they are going to have a policy about it, which isn't posted nor was I given a written copy (told they didn't have one), they need to enforce it for everyone!

Overall great opportunity to buy endless clothing items for yourself and family. Apparently many regular locations send their excess, non-sold items to this location. It does take some time going through all the great buys, but well worth the time for top notch clothing and shoes. Highly recommend.

I travel all over the world get a chance to visit many stores/malls. I was surprised that a mall in a beautiful city like Asheville was so filthy. From the hallway to the bathroom I was amazed. It really doesn't do the city justice.

For most malls they are closing down stores, I understand from people getting there things from the internet and everything. They have very limited stores that were interesting. Their Barns and Nobels was probably the best store there. It is two levels. The lighting was also very dim for 5pm time, it almost felt like they were turning off the lights.

About 25 years ago, my husband and I lived in the area and went to this mall as it was the place to go. Fast forward to 2016 and we are living here again. The mall looks very dated with not much to bring us here very often, especially with the other very new shopping areas to explore.

Asheville Mall has many stores to choose from and meets the needs of my family. There are stores for everyone! The mall has carpet which makes it nice and quite unlike many malls today. A modest food court offers everyone in my family options that appeal to them.
