About
As an entertainment venue, the musicians will impress you with their repertoire of thousands of popular songs from the last fifty years. It is an all request show, with no set list. All your favorite songs from when you first cranked up the stereo in your car and sang at the top of your lungs - just ask, and you might be amazed at many they know. Never taking themselves too seriously, they are all too happy to poke fun at themselves, the songs they sing, and even the audience. It's a rock-and-roll, sing-along, total party atmosphere. We also pride ourselves on having the best service in Asheville. Our cocktail servers and bartenders are often a part of the show! Come try our innovative and eclectic menu--we're the only ones in town that serve fishbowl drinks! We hope to see you out at Off the Wagon sometime!

Recent w/e visit. Got in early and grabbed a high top seat (which they told us up front does NOT get table service, you have to go to the bar for your drinks). The drinks were no pricier than other bars in the area. Entertainment is solid for a dueling pianos, especially in NC. Some of the crowd interplay was a bit adult, but not a problem and probably expected during the 'come up on stage' break spots. Bar service was good all night, though we were out of there before midnight as the crowds started to really pick up after 10. Will be back on our next trip!!
I don't really understand the haters and snowflakes on here and their comments. OTW is a good time out on the town in Asheville, and if you do 5 minutes of research on your phone, almost every complaint that gets mentioned in these reviews is clearly spelled out in advance on their website. Look it up instead of flying to review sites and bashing the place.

Thanks for letting us entertain you and reading about us before coming in! If more people were like you, I wouldn't have to respond to all these reviews on here!
We look forward to seeing you down the road!

We had to buy a membership as NC law does not allow bars and it's a "club" ($5). There are two pianos, drums, and sometimes other instruments. It was not clear we had to pay to get a song played - thought it was tips only. They do a great job of including the audience and celebrating weddings and birthdays with not-so-clean lyrics to well known songs. Lots of fun.

We had a great time at Off the Wagon. Arrived right at opening to be sure to have a seat. The wait staff were super attentive. The entertainers knew all types of songs and included everyone. Some of their "made up" songs were definitely suited for adults only and, if you are easily offended, probably not for you.

The vibe was great, but we were there for my sweet & lovely sister’s bachelorette and when she was pulled on stage they sung a very disrespectful and inappropriate song about wanting to “put it in her baby face” and “feel her moist embrace” and made everyone in the bar (especially her!) uncomfortable. We had to leave immediately after that to save the good vibes

This place is the worst at customer service I have ever experienced!!!
First, it was a slow night and only half a dozen people in the bar but we decided to go in. Unfortunately I left a brand new shirt ( still in the bag from where it was purchased). Realizing I left it I sent an email the next morning and started calling with no one ever answering the phone. Now one week later 2 emails and 10-12 calls going to recording that says mailbox is full.
I live two hours away and would have thought someone from this place would have reached out!!!

Are you mad at us because you are not responsible enough to keep up with your own stuff? We are a bar, not a day care. If the shirt was worth something to you, you wouldn't have left it behind. Be an adult next time you go out. And oh by the way, you sent us an email on 8 Dec 22 at 8:07am. I responded to you the same day at 7:39pm with a picture of a shirt. My email was not responded to. You sent one email. Not two. So how many times did you actually call? You say 10-12 so that probably means 5 or 6? We're a bar, not a phone answering service.
For those of you reading this, would you say we provide poor customer service because you left your stuff at our place? I would argue you are just a terrible customer and get off your phone and grab your brand new shirt.

Intended to go inside but due to unfriendly bouncer at door, no food on menu and unprofessional comments made by owner on review boards decided my money can be better spent elsewhere. You can hear and view the show from street (very loud). Save your money.

Not dueling pianos as advertised. Grossly understaffed. We waited over 25 minutes to order a drink and eventually left after paying the cover charge. Unfortunately, the sole bartender was also the doorman checking ID’s and collecting the cover charge and through no fault of his own was overwhelmed. Would not recommend.

As advertised, dueling pianos are Thur-Sat. Welcome to service industry life in 2022. Yeah, we hate it as well. I'm sorry we couldn't provide you with a good experience.

It was an overall terrible experience. The bartenders are rude to their costumers. I would advise everyone to go to a different bar to enjoy their nights in Asheville.
The bartender made me a vodka tonic but didn’t have any limes so put lime juice in the drink. This is fine but the drink was awful. I asked if I could just trade out drinks. His exact response was “No, you can’t get another drink without paying full price because it wasn’t his fault I didn’t like it... that’s what I ordered”.
I had been drinking vodka tonics throughout the night but his tasted terrible. The bartender could benefit from bartending and personal development classes.

So you ordered a vodka tonic and we charged you for a vodka tonic? You didn't like the vodka tonic and you want us to not charge you for something you ordered? Yeah, it doesn't work like that. If you order a menu drink and don't like it, that's one thing. But to demand something for free as a call drink? Have you ever been to a bar before?

Over 40? Bring your ID. Yes, I’m serious. My 50+ husband and 40+ self were turned away before the bar was full (around 8pm) because only one of us had an ID.
I 100% appreciate carding those of questionable age, but really?!? I enjoy not carrying a purse!

We are in a controlled state. Alcohol is a controlled substance. Alcohol Law Enforcement is an overbearing government organization in this state that wants everyone to have an ID in a drinking establishment. I'm actually surprised in the year 2021 you don't carry an ID with you when you go out and I had no idea that carrying an additional 2 1/8″ x 3 3/8″ card is such a burden. We are sorry we couldn't make you happy and might I suggest going to Applebee's next time you go out?

We plan to be in Ashville on a Saturday & Sunday night in late July. What time does the music generally start on a Saturday night and is there also live music on Sunday night at that time of the year? If no music on a Sunday night, any recommodations for another local venue?
Thanks.

The show dueling piano show beings at 8pm on Saturdays and a piano show will begin at 9pm on Sunday.

How can we find out if there are actually two piano players before we visit next time? We visited and got one.
Written November 15, 2016
Taken from our FAQ off of our webpage:
What time do your piano shows start?
On Sunday and Wednesday through Friday, they begin at 9pm. On Saturday, the show begins at 8pm. The show will last as long as the crowd is rocking or until the duelers lose their voices. Sunday and Wednesday is a single piano show, which is a more intimate affair with a lot more personal interaction between the piano player and song requester from the audience. On Thursday through Saturday is our electrifying dueling piano show and just like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get!

If you love soup, we have plenty of whiskey! However, we do not serve food. If you would like to bring your own food or have food delivered, that is a okay!

Is this establishment child friendly at any point for the piano playing? Would love to expose my child to this
Written July 1, 2015
If your child is 21 years of age and older, absolutely! To comply with state law and insurance regulations, no one under the age of 21 is permitted into Off the Wagon. However, we can do a private party, with no alcohol, on an off night. If this is something that interest you, contact us through our website. Thank you for the question!
