I am a book-lover, so this was the first place I wanted to go when we got to Asheville. Malaprop's has been highly recommended to me for years, and now I know why. This is a WONDERFUL independent book store. Warm, inviting, current, and full of fabulous reads. I roamed for a couple of hours and happily purchased a few... More

This bookstore is so quaint and unique. I miss book stores like this. They had a lot of local selections , which is something I really seek out when traveling. You should stop here and get a book or two and maybe a latte.

On a recent family outing to Asheville, I made an immediate detour for this shop, as I am a huge fan of local booksellers. These folks did not disappoint! My husband and 7-year-old son found the kids' section right away and settled in to find Waldo in one of the Where's Waldo books. My tween queen b-lined to the YA... More

I love this bookstore! They have so many books, and they have a little cafe inside, too. Their displays keep it interesting, and the selection is astounding.

Great bookstore...time flys by so quickly...friendly staff...well organized, clean yet just enough 'clutter' to feel genuine. Inexpensive entertainment while cruising downtown Asheville. A good selection of publications from the area...Asheville, WNC and NC.

I found this to a bookstore similar in nature to Barnes and Noble but smaller and more personable. There was a wide selection of books and locals seemed to enjoy the cafe food here. They were also enjoying browsing through the novels looking for something to read. This bookstore would be a good option to buy gifts for children and... More

Scored a Wendy McNaughton book and Elizabeth Bishop/Robert Lowell letters from the sale rack this visit; on past trips, I've lingered over graphic novels and cookbooks and enjoyed the Fire Distinguisher (spicy hot drink) in the cafe. The cashier grinned at me when I started laughing at one of the snarky counter tchotchkes. Small (at least compared to mega-stores) but... More

Finally, someone who knows how important a good hot chocolate is in a chilly day! Super cozy. Lots to browse besides the excellent books.

I was here for a book signing by Kevin Hearne and was completely impressed by this bookstore! The cool little bookstore of days gone by is so hard to find anymore. Bibliophiles serving bibliophiles is the best! I only wish I lived around Asheville so I could spend more time just hanging out.
