Sat at bar, good service & pub food. Truffle fries were good and my Bison Burger was excellent. Salads are large.

Despite 1 negative review I read here, I didn't see any 'filth". Homeless people are part of life now. You simply give them a buck or 2 and move-on. I found the entire Historical Downtown Area fascinating, filled with interesting people and great shops/ restaurants. I simply parked my Sprinter RV curbside, in a handicapped zone, and rode my e-Bike all through it for hours. Stopping for lunch (Sushi) and shopping at all the cool Hippie-Style Boutiques and Galleries. There's even one Hippie Shop where they specialize in Tie-Dyed Clothing & T-Shirts and Memorability dedicated to 'The Dude' from "The Big Lobowski" movie. Had already seen the Riverfront Area previously so, I concentrated on the Downtown culminating my journey at Pack Park. Very peaceful. "The Dude Abides"...

Visited on 9/12/2021. Area is filled with vagrants. People are begging for doggy bags or money. The place is absolutely filthy!! In the adjacent areas are needle collection bins, un-eaten food, beer cans and cigarette butts. I would stay (5) blocks from this area unless this is ok with you!

The hallmark of this place is the hordes of homeless people who squat here and in the surrounding areas, and Asheville is quite famous and proud of its homeless population. The entire square looks a bit shabby and is desperate need of a facelift.

Pack Square is quite simply the still beating heart of Asheville. It really is their version of Trafalgar Square. It's a place to relax, people watch, grab dinner, dessert, have a coffee on a bench, or bask in the sun. There are a few monuments and art sculptures on one side with cafes and restaurants on the other. From here you can view several examples of architecture that helps define Asheville. The square is slowly and steadily dominated by hipsters the closer it gets to sundown. It's not uncommon to see a Pedal Pub/Beer Bike go by. There are BLM messages alongside messages of love and some anti-police rhetoric on the sidewalk. Families and old couples wearing masks are long gone by then. There were a few homeless lingering around the benches so exercise caution. Check out nearby French Broad Chocolate Lounge for a slice of cake and maybe a cappuccino. We went in early October and the leaves were turning a beautiful yellow as the sun faded. Just a great place to be.

This is a family friendly park.Great place to relax.
There is a Veterans’ Memorial which stands near the courthouse at the northeast corner of the park.
The place must be even more lively during on of many events that take place here.

Nice park like setting downtown. Close to a variety of restaurants and beer tasting spots. Usually a variety of different things going on on different days. A good place to catch a free concert or some mid day sun and sky.

Shindig on the Green (mountain music, dance, etc.) starts Sat. July 1, about 7 - 10. Happens every Sat night through August. Event is in its 50th year.
There are often other events in Pack Square and adjacent Park. I suggest you check out ExploreAsheville website. It will probably have a pretty good schedule of what is happening in the area, including Pack Square.
