What a great place to see local artisans work on their crafts and also buy some of the great artwork in so many forms. The staff at the different places to buy the crafts were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the artisans.

This place is amazing. The creativity of this area is on display and you will regret it if you don't stop here for an hour, two hours, or more!

Been visiting here for decades and there is always something new to see. High quality locally made items for your home and for gifts. I consider The Folk Art Center a must see on every visit to Asheville.

A wide range of arts and crafts from local artists. We watched a wonderful broom making demonstration and then roamed through galleries showcasing beautiful handmade quilts, ceramics, and paintings. Prices are not cheap but, the quality of the art demands fair equity. Definitely worth visiting!

This is full of local talent and the items for sale are so creative, well made and worth every penny. There were a couple of artists there doing demonstrations - which was cool. No pressure, take your time and support the local artisans - I certainly did. A wide variety of items.

We came here on a rainy day to find an indoor activity. While we enjoyed our time here, which included browsing items for sale, and even seeing some craftspeople in action, we thought that the facility maybe could have used a bit more of a "museum" element to it. There were a few information signs about the different materials used in the art, but it wasn't a central focus. All that said, even if you don't plan on buying anything, it is still worth your time to see present-day folk artists carrying on traditional arts.

This is an excellent place to visit to get the "flavor" of the mountain area artisans. The homemade art and craft items are so very unique and the craftmanship is to be admired. It may not be a highlight for everyone in the family but a one-time visit is worth the stop just to become aware of the rich history of mountain folk art.

The Folk Art Center is a great showcase for local artists and their crafts. There are a few "working" artists who demonstrate their craft; a varied collection of high-quality crafts for sale; and a rotating exhibit that goes into detail about each particular craft.

If you're so inclined, you can take a short hike (a bit over a mile) through the woodlands via a path that starts in the parking lot.
