This was our second time renting kayaks at AOC and we couldn't recommend this outfitter more!!! They are so kind, so accommodating, and genuinely good people who enjoy creating memorable experiences. Everyone is smiling and happy. They went above and beyond to accommodate our large 10 party group at the last minute...THANK YOU BEN AND CREW!!!!

Our outing with Clayton was the perfect way to start our girls trip in Asheville. We selected the waterfall trip and it did not disappoint. The hikes were a perfect length and the falls were flowing so fast that even Clayton was amazed. He also gave us some guidance on hikes on our own and great restaurant recommendations. We plan to hike with Clayton again in the spring to take advantage of the snow melt and spring flowers.

Overall trip was fine, although it seemed a little pricey for what it was. They give you 2.5 hours, but you really need at least 3 if you want to do less paddling and be more relaxed. Scenery along the river was nice. You can briefly see the Biltmore mansion between spaces in the bushes.

Would really have appreciated air conditioning in the van ride over to the put-in (it was 90 degrees that day). We brought our masks for the van ride because none of the tour groups are requiring masks in their shuttles.

If you go in the summer, I would recommend that you take a bottle of water with you on the river as well as a hat and LOTS of sunscreen. Would also recommend that you check the weather before you make the reservation - if you're caught in a thunderstorm while on the river, there's no refuge.

The tour operators were pleasant and the kayak trip itself was fun, but during the shuttle ride almost everyone was unmasked. No questions were asked about vaccination, and no one suggested to mask for an enclosed vehicle trip. The counter attendant with whom I spoke said they were CDC compliant (don’t ask, don’t tell?) which is not exactly true since currently the CDC is advising masks in enclosed areas such as vehicles, though AOC is probably exempt as a private operator. I thought it showed a lack of respect for their customers however.

This was a really fun Sunday afternoon. Jordy took us to 4 breweries where we each got a full beer. Thankful for the electric assisted bike which made going up hills super easy. I would recommend doing this tour for all ages - our group of 6 ranged from 20’s to 60’s. Do this on a day when the city is less crowded. Sunday was perfect.

We did the guided Ebike tour and had an outstanding adventure! Leslie was very knowledgeable of the geographical area and the wildlife and very protective of our group whether on the bike path or encountering the area wildlife. We had no less than three bear encounters; one mama and 4 cubs and one with three cubs plus a small lone juvenile bear that ran across the road at a distance. Leslie had us stay back until the mother and cubs moved a safe distance away and at no time did we feel unsafe. We also saw the elusive white squirrel and got great pics! Although there were some steep climbs, the bikes did the work for us so the tour is not challenging if you can ride a bike at all. I highly recommend this immersive experience if you enjoy moving along at a steady pace; being outdoors and experiencing the local culture and learning about the history of the area.

We had the best time with our guide Jordy, climbing the mountains, looking at gorgeous views on a beautiful evening, and even experienced a couple bears on the way. Jordy was a wealth of knowledge. Tour ended with a drink watching the sunset from the Grove Park Inn. What a great way to finish a perfect evening.

Eight women cousins of 60 and above took to the river on single kayaks this past Memorial Day on the early 10am shift. The French Broad was flowing nicely so we didn’t have to paddle hard. The guys explained the trip and the paddling and it was an incredibly relaxing and enjoyable trip. They all loved it! And we would do it again in a heart beat. Book your trip now!

The folks there were all great. They took us through some basic safety info., got us all into the van for a short ride to the launch site a few minutes down the road. Once at the launch site, it didn't take them too long for them to unload all of the kayaks, and we were on the river in no time at all. The river is incredible to say the least. The part i had a tough time with was all of the surrounding traffic noise from the roads. After a couple of miles or so, the noise went away and you could just sit back and enjoy what nature provides. Simply breathtaking. And you are able to drift by the Biltmore Estate which was pretty amazing. The next time I go, I would definitely spend more time asking all of the river tour operators for the most relaxing and noise free parts of the river. But overall, it was worth it.

It stormed so our guides, Brando and Leslie, gave us the option of touring the breweries via a party bus. It was a great idea! Leslie was so knowledgeable of the beers, and a lot of f to be around. Brando was awesome. Great attitudes, lots of fun, had a blast! Will definitely do it again next time we're in Asheville!
