About
Let the local experts guide you to our favorite “secret spots” along the Blue Ridge Parkway and in our National Forests. Home to 250+ waterfalls and miles of hiking trails, the stunning scenery does not disappoint. Our tours provide a unique blend of storytelling, sightseeing and nature discovery! We visit historical sights and 150-foot waterfalls, and even enjoy wild food foraging on all of our tours. Our aim to provide a soul-nurturing experience in the outdoors is the reason why our guests return to experience these mountains with us, again and again! If you have a half day to spend with us, we recommend the Waterfalls and Blue Ridge Parkway Tour so you can capture multiple highlights of western North Carolina, including the iconic Blue Ridge Parkway, historic sites and “secret” hidden waterfalls. For those who have just a few hours to spend with us, we recommend the Guided 2-Hour Waterfall Hike. Private Tours, fully customizable, are also available and offer a range of hikes!

I hired Asheville Hiking Tours to lead a private tour for a women's retreat I was running. The owner, Jennifer G, and our private guide, Chris went above and beyond to ensure that our group of women were happy with the hike. The weather was going to be cold and foggy so we had to change our hike destination to ensure for a good view and good hike. Chris was a phenomenal communicator and really took great care of us! From the clear pickup instructions, to the hiking poles, and just fantastic knowledge of the area, Chris was a top notch guide. The women all had a blast! We will 100% hire these guys to lead our crew again in this magical place. Thanks Asheville Hiking Tours for a fantastic guide and a perfect half-day hike! Sharon H.

Thank you so much for this thoughtful review, Sharon. We take a lot of pride in accommodating our guests and leading great tours, even when the weather doesn't cooperate. Chris really appreciates this type of feedback. It helps us know we are doing good work out there on the trails. Y'all come back, now, and we'll do it all over again!

We can’t wait to experience nature again with Ashville Hiking Tours! What a great experience we had and certainly got our money’s worth. We were there in December touring during the winter months was amazing – who knew that there was so much to see during this time of year. Randy was our guide and he was so nice and provided us so much information ~ we didn’t want our tour to end. We can’t say enough what a great time we had and encourage anyone who wants to walk in the woods and learn about nature to contact Ashville Hiking Tours.
All the best,
Don and Becky

We absolutely cherish these reviews. Thank you, Don and Becky! Your feedback means so much (especially to your guide Randy!) It makes me so happy that you appreciated our gorgeous scenery, even in the winter. Hope to see you back again, someday!

We went on a 4.5 hour waterfall tour in November 2018. It was fabulous! It was raining on our originally booked date and Jennifer was so accommodating and helpful in allowing us to rebook on a different date before our vacation ended. We were picked up on time, our guide was very friendly and knowledgable about the area and we saw some incredible waterfalls. We did not feel rushed and had plenty of time to hike/explore/photograph the various areas and waterfall stops. We were given waters and snacks and enjoyed visiting with other tour guests on our drive between our stops. We highly recommend this tour and this operating company. They are excellent. We hope to return to Asheville again one day. The area is gorgeous and there is so much to do.

Wow, what wonderful feedback, Cheryl! Your review is one of those cherished ones - I was so thankful the weather turned in your favor after we rebooked your tour to a better day, letting you soak in the views and waterfalls! We certainly can't wait to show you our favorite sites around the mountains again, next time you get the chance to travel. Big hug, from Asheville Hiking Tours to you!

We did the Waterfalls and Blue Ridge Pkwy tour, chose a picture perfect day after nearly a week of rain- which made the falls spectacular! Our guide Chris was masterfully skilled in identifying birds and botanicals we would have missed on our own. The 3 venues - Looking Glass, High Falls and Triple Falls - were lush with foliage and a deluge of rushing water after the rain. After a short drive up the BRP, we stopped in the Pisgah Forest at several overlooks with colorful long range views. So much we would have missed without Chris’ commentary and expertise, he made this trip 100 times better than expected! Can’t recommend AHT enough!

Thank for this well-written review about a fantastic tour with Chris. A beautiful day with rushing water and a sharp-eyed naturalist is a special way to enjoy the Blue Ridge mountains!

We had an incredible time on the Winter Water Falls tour. Big thank you to Paul for being a fantastic tour guide. Paul's tour was funny, informative, high-energy, and very accommodating! My partner and I really enjoyed learning from Paul's deep knowledge of the area, plants, and birds. We loved the second waterfall we saw and the explanation Paul provided about the cove's shelf formation, as well as learning about and seeing wasps' gulfs - so cool!!

All that said, kudos to Paul and to the Asheville Hiking Tours company for setting a great standard and inspiring us to want to go on more guided hikes. The next time we are in the Asheville area we will definitely come tour with y'all again! :)

This was an absolute wonderful first hike experience for my girlfriend and I. Our guide, Mike, was extremely nice and full of knowledge about various plants and wildlife. He took time to personally answer every question that anyone in our group had and taught us all proper trail etiquette and tips. The Catawba falls were absolutely gorgeous and worth every step to get there. If you are looking for a place to hike in Asheville, I highly recommend Asheville Hiking Tours.

If I could rate the Asheville Hiking Tours company 10 stars, I would. Our guide Jenny was so accommodating, well versed and knowledgeable, that I wished the hike could have lasted twice as long. She carried and shared fresh water and healthy snacks, and made sure my photos were perfect. I felt like I made a wonderful friend after we parted. I took this tour in November 2017 to the Pisgah National Forest at the very end of the touring season but the weather was perfect: clear and cool.
Please, if you are thinking of taking a guided tour in the Asheville area, call upon this wonderful group of people to lead the way.
Good trailblazing and be safe!

My wife and I had the pleasure of a very customized private tour with Asheville Hiking Tours. We were picked up from our hotel and taken to the Brevard area. Our first stop was Looking Glass Falls where we spent a few minutes admiring this large waterfall. Our next stop was Looking Glass Mountain. Jennifer packed all the items we needed for the our journey including water, hiking poles, and backpacks. After preparing our lunch, that was included in our tour, we headed off onto the trail. It was an awesome three mile hike up with a picnic lunch at the top. On a scale of 1 to 10 with ten being the hardest, I would rate it a 5. This was our first hike, but we have a slightly higher than average fitness level. At the top we enjoyed an amazing view of a valley and other mountains far off into the distance. The hike down was faster, but equally beautiful. If we are ever in the Asheville area again, and I am sure we will be, a hiking day trip with Asheville Hiking Tours will most certainly be on our agenda!

My husband and I spent a weekend in Asheville last year and took a half day tour with Asheville hiking tours. Our guide was a charming young man. who radiated enthusiasm. His knowledge of all things botanical was surpassed only by his passion for showing us all the wonderful things that the area has to offer. He not only knew his flora and fauna but also his history which he shared in a most entertaining manner. Hey, who knew hemlock could be so tasty!!! I would highly recommend this business, even under current situations I would definitely go with them again when in the area

My husband and I travelled from Atlanta to Asheville in celebration of our 21st wedding anniversary. Initially I was a little hesitant...meeting a strange person, early in the morning, to hike in a mountain that I am unfamiliar with...in addition to thinking that if something did happen the chances of me having cell phone service would be slim to none. All of those apprehensions instantly disappeared upon meeting our tour guide Chris. He was warm, nice, eager to answer any questions; just a great friendly disposition that would put most people to ease. The hike was fun as we stopped to listen to Chris talk about the history of the trail and to point out the various plants, berries and animal tracks. This was the highlight of our anniversary celebration and when I am back in Asheville, we plan on booking the longer 5-hour Blue Ridge Parkway tour. Don't hesitate to book you will not regret it! The sound of the waterfall is still singing in my ears!
