It was a pleasant surprise to see that there was a guide available for an impromptu birding excursion on my trip to Asheville. Aaron was prompt, professional, and very knowledgeable about the species we encountered. His keen spotting abilities and pleasant demeanor made for an absolutely lovely morning. I even got great looks at an Ovenbird, which I had only seen once before. Highly recommended.

I was so pleased to find a birding guide in Asheville and Kevin was great. We met by the North Carolina Botanic Garden (watch out, our gps first took us to another site in the city) and then drove up the Blue Ridge Parkway. Kevin was great at spotting birds in the trees and helping me see them as well. He took us to a number of spots we never would have found. Not only were the birds great, the views and company were terrific as well. We opted for lunch and he provided a nice picnic with make-your-own sandwiches including home-grown tomato slices. I highly recommend Ventures to those wanting a birding experience around Asheville. We had our own binoculars but he had some available if we had needed them. This would be a fun trip for listers or just people who want a nice, interesting time outside in the mountains.

Just returned from my first overseas birding trip. I could not have had a more exciting, professionally guided and fun time. Simon and Juan were tireless and knowledgeable, and outdid themselves to make us comfortable and respond to every need. We were a group of 8 women, traveling together in a van for 10 days, and ended up as friends and colleagues, a feat in itself. These are full days of travel and birding, including feeder viewing and forest walks, in the end with 331 total birds, including 52 different hummingbirds. I am already looking for my next trip. Go!! You will love it.

We were visiting western NC in April, and my adult daughter wanted to hone her birdwatching skills. I learned that Ventures Birding offered a tour close to our cabin during one of our days there. We met guide Aaron Steed at Stecoah Gap early on an amazingly sunny day. There were about ten of us in our group. We wandered along an old logging road--a relatively level easy walk--next to the more rugged Appalachian Trail. Aaron is obviously enthused about his work. He was patient and helped us identify many warblers, nuthatches, tanagers, etc. The walk lasted about four hours. When we returned to the picnic table area, Aaron put out an amazing lunch spread which is included in the tour. It was great to have the time to talk about our adventure and share stories with like-minded bird brains!
