The staff at Shoji were especially accommodating, and the facilities at the Retreat/Spa are absolutely lovely!

I have been in many spas but never in a 'Japanese' style. I was amazed about their hospitality and their menu of offerings. I enjoyed the 1 hour exclusive spa and the 1 1/2 hour massage... I did not want to leave!!! If you are into 'Spa's' this is a place you should definitely have on your bucket list!

We recently went here for massages and a one hour soak in our own private hot tubs. They also offer cold showers and a cold plunge after your hot tub experience. The private hot tub areas were beautiful with nothing around you but trees and the massages were excellent.

Having spent the week in Asheville hiking, biking, paddling, and forever walking, our bodies were tired. We stumbled across a flyer for Shoji while walking near Grove Arcade in Asheville. Thank goodness we did! It was an amazing experience from beginning to end. We booked a couples massage with 1 hrs of private hot tub time. The hot tub was... More

This place happened to be a half mile from my Airbnb. The service was great, the views were beautiful, and the facilities were really nice. It's also really fun to visit a Japanese style spa. If the weather weren't so hot I would have splurged on the outdoor hot soak tubs, but July weather isn't ideal.

Lovely Japanese spa in the woods. Options are lodging, massage or a pass to use the facilities for 2 hours. The pass was perfect since we only had a short amount of time before our flight home. Guests can use the private hot tubs, an ice cold tub, the sauna and grounds. Once you enter the property up on a... More

I went here with a few girlfriends for a get together. The facility is clean and the showers have amazing smelling shampoo/conditioner/body wash. We were shown to our hot tub which had a nice view of the woods and felt secluded. We didn't hear or see any other guest while we were there, even though the tubs are close by... More

I definitely needed some serious relaxation, and this was just the place. I went for the 80 minute Zen Message with Sarah, who was absolutely terrific. If I had had more time I would have taken advantage of the Japanese hot tubs. The whole environment -- at the top of a steep hill just outside town -- was quite exquisite.

There are multiple glaring architectural nightmares including too steep stairs in a narrow hallway, unscreened toilet in a huge bathroom and overheated lounging area. Nonfunctioning items not fixed during 2 1/2 day stay included an almost unusable armoire. Lighting too poor to use for reading. No meal service. We were not allowed to use the large Jacuzzi tub in the... More

Dear NBSSteve, We are very sorry that you were dissatisfied with your accommodations at Shoji. Our reservationist should have recommended the Lodge for your visit, as it is on one level. We do offer complimentary Private Hot Tub passes with your nightly stay. You certainly should have been made aware of the distance to food services, as well as the... More
