Let me set the scene. We are residents of Asheville but had never done a LaZoom tour. We decided to do some of the touristy things in Asheville this summer with our kids to take advantage of our city’s attractions. The morning before our Little Boogers tour, our kids were being absolute pains, and the 5 year old was whining about leaving the house and saying he didn’t want to go. There were actual tears and predictions of the total drag we were about to experience and what mean parents we were for daring to book an enriching activity without consulting the Netflix schedule. I was ill because who wants to spend $100 to drag their ungrateful dependents around on a Saturday?

From the minute we arrived at the LaZoom room, the guides made us feel welcome and engaged our kids. I will admit here that I love comedy and magic and have more than once been picked to go onstage by a performer because my reactions are big. I’m that person. I’m ready to have a good time. I go from zero to suspension of disbelief in about two seconds. But my husband and 5 year old are tougher audiences. My 5 year old literally said he was going to play a game where he wasn’t going to laugh and thereby would earn candy (this idea was summarily rejected by his overlords aka parents). Husband and 5 year old were almost immediately smiling and laughing. Every time I turned around to look at them my 5 year old had his mouth open in delight. Stu and Scott and Doug were hilarious and fantastic, and I just kept thinking the entire time how important it is that we support local artists and performers because they make our town special.

My 2 year old has never been prouder of a sticker than the one he got at the end of the tour (he showed it to every staff member in Mamacitas and you’re a fool if you don’t eat there after you do your tour. When we moved away from Asheville for a while I dreamed of their burritos at least weekly). My 5 year old talked about the tour for the next hour and actually said “I thought it wasn’t going to be good, but Mommy and Daddy showed me how much fun it actually was.” My husband and I felt the tour guides honestly rescued our day, turned our moods around, and reminded us of what a magical town we live in.

Would do again, maybe next weekend! Will book a birthday tour. Thanks y’all! Great experience.

My mom, my brother, and I took this fun and informative city tour of Asheville on our first trip to this city. We had a blast! It was so funny and enjoyable, and we got to see parts of the city that we definitely wouldn’t have on a walking tour or on our own. The guide was a likable fellow, who sort of reminded me of a cross between Forrest Gump and Randy Rainbow.
I thought the “special guests” who joined us thought the tour were a hoot and added to the fun.
I highly recommend this tour for folks who want to learn something about Asheville and have a good time doing it!

We took the LaZoom comedy tour this past Saturday evening and can't recommend it enough. We were hesitant to book something that seemed so "touristy" but after sitting at Mamacitas eating burritos and watching the buses come and go we were intrigued enough to buy tickets. The tour is an extremely entertaining history lesson and I recommend to everyone who doesn't take life too seriously and enjoys a good laugh. You get to see lots of downtown Asheville and the beautiful Montford neighborhood. We didn't have our kids with us but our 16 and 18-year-old daughters would have enjoyed it as well.

The Lazoom Bus tour was definitely my jam! From the moment you check in at the Lazoom Room to the time you get on the bus, you are surrounded by eclectic art and people. We did the Ghost tour on a Thursday night. It was a bit chilly, so be prepared to bring a jacket as the bus is open to the elements.
Corin welcomed us on the bus with a quality groove and personal welcome (sometimes rated PG-13). Bonesy was a top notch tour guide as he told stories and jokes all about Asheville and its history.

The LaZoom tour was a blast! Probably the most unique tour I've been on. Our tour guide was hilarious, energetic and very knowledgeable. Combined with the run ons they performed made for a very entertaining experience and would recommend to anyone traveling to Asheville!

This tour was unbelievably terrible. The hostess had about 5 minutes of interesting/funny content, and the rest of the “show” consisted of weird characters and crude jokes. For example-the “tour” included a Bigfoot character with a large golden phallus, a weird moth man, and a character named Kudzu. The Kudzu character asked the 8 year old “hostess” to perform fellatio. The whole routine was so inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. The hostess did not have enough material, so she used up time asking the first 20 people on the bus where they were from and what they did for work. Honestly, I would never recommend this bus tour.

Thanks for your feedback, we're very proud of the work we put into the tours, and we are sorry to hear it didn't align with your expectations. It sounds like you took our Ghosted tour, which is rated NC-17 on our website, and is designed to combine comedy with local ghost legends and true accounts of murders and tragedies in Asheville. While we highlight a lot of local ghost stories on the Ghosted tour, it's certainly more of a comedy tour, and we understand that comedy is subjective and not everyone's taste is the same! Our 'Hey Asheville' Tour is rated PG-13 and is a more balanced delivery of comedy and history, if you're interested in returning that might be more your speed!

Extremely fun and entertaining! Very energetic performances, and very creative as well, plus a bit of naughty thrown in for kicks. The only 2 reasons this didn't get a 5 star are: 1) the seats on the bus were just way too close to each other for any kind of comfort. There were 4 of us, very tall, and we all had to sit rather contorted to fit. 2) the sound system was terrible as the performers had to were there masks and then the microphone over that, so everything was muffled and it made it difficult to understand what was said, even tho the sound was easily loud enough. That being said, it was great fun and I would still, very easily, recommend this great fun comedy ghost tour!

For a wildly entertaining 90-minute tour that best captures the wackiness of Asheville, hop aboard the purple bus. If you’re expecting to spend the whole time learning all sorts of historical facts, this ain’t for you. If, however, you want to overindulge yourself with laughs while hearing bits and pieces of fascinating local history, you’re taking the right bus. As a longtime resident of Asheville, I often take my visitors on LaZoom’s City Comedy Tour so they can experience a zany, but also real, taste of downtown (along with a local craft beer or two). It’s always been a sidesplitting time. Yesterday, my girlfriend and I brought our twenty-something guests onboard. Our guide, the Renaissance Man, (no one at LaZoom seems to know how to spell his name—Turbid or Turbert Burbage?) was absolutely hysterical. He kept calling our guests, who are newlyweds, “the teenagers” and poked lighthearted fun at them (along with Floridians on the bus) throughout the rib-tickling ride. They loved it and laughed the whole time. In fact, they were still laughing long after the tour. To quote the Renaissance Man, huzzah!

After touring the Biltmore, driving the Blue Ridge Parkway, dining at eateries, devouring homemade ice cream and listening to street musicians there’s only one important activity left to check off you list when visiting Asheville . . . and that’s getting on the BIG Purple BUS and experiencing “LaZoom”. Not only do you get an abbreviated history lesson on the colonial aspect of this unique city, but you get to laugh, hoot, holler and sing your way through town. You also get to meet the most interesting “characters” that find their way on your journey . . . everyone from a Nun, to a Bee, to a Beer expert. We planned our bus ride as a finale to our 4 day visit and what a great way to wrap it all up. They have options of rides which can be family friendly or a little more “R”. Rated. Just make it part of your itinerary and remember, laughing is good for the heart and “LaZoom” delivers!

The LaZoom team made sure that we had a fun and informative tour of Asheville. Turbid Burbidge was our tour guide and was joined by a hilarious cast of characters that included a nun, Mother Nature and a horny bee (Boobee) among others. The factoids that Turbid shared with us about Asheville’s history, architecture and accomplished residents - past and present - were truly interesting. The tour was well organized and the building where tours begin and end has a wild and wacky decor.

My husband and I did the 3 pm tour on a weekday and when done, crossed the street to have dinner at the Wicked Weed, a restaurant/brew house that serves up great burgers and beer.

A few of our fellow LaZoom passengers were a bit stodgy. This tour is best enjoyed with a sense of levity, maybe a libation or two, and not taking life so seriously.

The bus stopped midway through the tour at an area brewery for those needing a bathroom break and maybe a sample of beer. I understand that these stop offs may vary day to day. On the day of our tour, we stopped at Green Man where our reception was chilly. Maybe it was just a bad day for the lady staffing the taps but unless this brewery is better equipped to briefly receive a small group of thirsty passengers, maybe bypass Green Man for friendlier breweries.
