About
Ten Thousand Villages is more than a store. We're a global maker‑to‑market movement that breaks the cycle of generational poverty and ignites social change. We're a way for you to shop with intention for ethically-sourced wares — and to share in the joy of empowering makers in ten thousand villages. We are a gift store carrying beautiful hand crafted jewelry and accessories, home goods, table top items, plant and garden, baskets, and more.

We simply LOVED this little shop. They feature artistic items of many kinds including clothing, jewelry, kitchen and housewares, etc. They get their name from the fact that they offer items from small, economically challenged villages and cultures from all over the world. You can collect some great artistic items and contribute to a very worthy cause all at the same time. If in downtown Asheville, please give this place a visit!

What a delightful shop! It is a privilege to see and purchase crafts that help support people all over the world. There is an eclectic collection of merchandise and a broad price range. Each item has a tag explaining what it is and where it is from. There are beautiful jewelry pieces, paper decorations (garlands, including folded paper stars, spiral garlands, even a colorful dragonfly garland!), wooden pieces, pottery, clothing, and so much more. The shop is clean, cheerful, and staffed with mostly volunteers. It is definitely worth stopping by!

I always visit Ten Thousand Villages when I am in downtown Asheville and often find unusual items for my home. The arts and crafts are always interesting, well made and purchases help to support native communities and artisans. I especially like the batik linens I find here. Prices are quite reasonable. If you haven't visited Ten Thousand Villages, stop in for a browse. Recommended!

Glad I researched the area on the internet before our trip, and found this shop - Loved it! There were so many different and unique items. Not a huge store, but you don't really notice that with so much to browse through. Store employees are very personable. Don't miss this gem!!!

Walking around Ashville and we found this shop on the square - lots of stuff with stories - clerk kinda bothered us but we bought a nice cinnamon bark box from Vietnam & a toy that a kid was playing with - prices were reasonable - car smells like the box now.

Interesting shop with unique items (especially jewelry) that appeal to all. We actually bought a set of small dessert plates to "punch up" our current dishes. My husband spotted these and really liked them. Since he's not one for this kind of shopping, it stopped me in my tracks and I took a closer look and next thing you know, we bought the 5 plates from the store and ordered another 5 from their shop online. Win - win! I'd visit here again on my next trip to Asheville. BTW, IMO Asheville has a serious downtown parking problem. One garage was full so we kept driving around till we got a street spot. The best thing about it was that the meters are free on Sundays.

I love coming into Ten Thousand Villages to browse. Lots of nice jewelry, home decor, clothing, fair trade chocolates, and great books. I always have fun time exploring . I bought a book but when I brought it home discovered it had a printing error. I brought it back the next day and the return was handled with great courtesy and speed. I highly recommend a visit to help support artisans around the world and browse a unique selection of products.

I enjoyed my stop into this store. Everyone who worked there was incredibly friendly but not annoyingly so. They have really interesting products from all over and I had fun browsing around. I've been in other store of this chain and this is my favorite so far!
