We just returned from the Wednesday tour with Ashevile Farm to Table Tours. It was an enjoyable outing to see the countryside and farms outside of the city. We especially loved Round Top Mountain Creamery as the mama goats had new babies just a few weeks old! The goat cheese tasting was a nice touch and we are still enjoying 2 tubs that we purchased to take home. Your guide and owner, Anne, is knowledgeable and communicative about not just the farms we visited, but ideas for other trips we could make later by ourselves. We would definitely recommend Farm To Table Tours if you want a hands-on farm and food experience.

Very disorganized. This tour was the worst part of our family vacation to Asheville. The tour started late, and continued to get later throughout the day. We arrived 30 minutes late for our scheduled lunch which resulted in cold food. The farms we stopped at were not prepared for a tour group. In one case the person who gave the tour was scheduled off for the day and the person who covered for her had no idea how to give a tour. If the tour company had been more organized, our guide would have adapted and scheduled a different farm stop. I would strongly not recommend this tour company.

I am quite distressed that you did not enjoy your tour. BUT, I strongly disagree with your comments. 99% of our guests first comment is how organized we are. We strive very hard to provide a special experience for our guests along with excellent customer service. To begin with, the tour did not start late. We always plan an introductory meeting with our guests before setting out for the first farm where we arrived at the scheduled arrival time. This experience does not happen in a vacuum, which is why I explained that all times are approximate, and I always inform the farms when we are leaving one place and headed to another because there are numerous factors that can affect the timing of this tour, including other guests who might want to purchase items from the farm or talk further with the farmer. I also disagree that the person who gave the tour at the second stop did not have any idea how to give a tour. They did a great job of explaining the cheese making process and in sharing their knowledge. As this is a small operation, sometimes they have to combine their work With giving a tour. This creamery also provided us with a delicious cheese tasting. Due to the geographical nature of this area, farms are not able to be substituted willy-nilly without adding extensive driving time. As far as our scheduled lunch, many of the items served were not intended to be served hot and they knew exactly what time we would arrive. I only wish you had been able to look at the other side of the coin and enjoy this special glimpse into the lives of these hard-working passionate small family farms and am sorry you did not enjoy yourself.

We had a lovely time. Our tour host was knowledgeable and personable. She had prepared name tags, snack bags, brochures, and cold beverages. She even brought wine glasses, plates and cheese knives. The three places we visited were interesting and diverse places we would never have found on our own. We saw how cheese was made and sampled a wide variety. We were given a tour of a working organic farm by an intern. We had a delicious lunch in the home of a baker with a delightful 2 year old and several goats. All the advice from the tour guide was appropriate. She even arranged for a perfect weather day. Many thanks.

We learned a great bit on what goes behind the scenes in running a farm and producing cheese. The hosts at all three venues were extremely nice and very helpful in explaining what they go through to make a living. Ann, our driver was also a knowledgable source of info. We travelled in areas we had not been before and enjoyed the scenery. All in all a great and rewarding day.

I highly recommend going on this tour with Ann, we had an absolute blast and got to see some awesome farms, met local cheese makers, and had some tasty food. Ann is wonderful, her van is fully stocked with snacks, water, and is a comfortable ride while you get to see all the glory that is Western North Carolina.
