We loved our snorkel experience with the Biscayne Institute so much that we did it twice in one year. (Our family had already visited in April 2019.) This time we had a group of 11 (two families), so we booked a private boat.

Our ranger captain, Bryce, was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the ecosystems. He could answer any question we threw at him..

We snorkeled among the mangroves because the water was too rough out on the reef on this windy December day. But the mangroves were good shelter from the wind and the sun came out. We saw lobsters and crabs and many fish, and everyone was happy, even some skeptical teenagers.

Thanks to the Biscayne Institute and Biscayne NP for such a wonderful afternoon!

We are a family of 6. Kids ages 10, 8, 6 and 2 months. We booked the private snorkeling tour. On the day of the tour, I messed up my dates and we ended up being an hour late. Castle (our tour guide) was extremely accommodating and waited for us then got us on the boat quickly once we arrived. He brought us to a great snorkeling spot and helped get the kids set up in their snorkeling gear. He was full of fun facts and kept our crew entertained the entire time. My husband and I were able to swap out and snorkel while one stayed back. He offered to let us go together while the kids ate lunch on the boat but our 2 month old was fussing so we weren’t able to take him up on that. The kids loved the conversation on the way back about taking care of our environment and different ways they could make a difference in the conversation effort. I highly recommend!

This was a fantastic way to support our National Park system, experience the water and lovely weather of South Florida, while also learning important insights about our fragile coastal ecosystems and the impacts of our current modern lifestyle on the ocean and world water supply. Jesse was a fantastic tour guide, handled the boat very safely and shared his ample knowledge about the history of the Keys and the environment (including birds, fish, plants and other marine life). Sharing the tour with others was also a great way to get to know a diverse crowd and hear about other opportunities for tourism and adventure in the area. Truly exceeded my expectations and inspired me to re-evaluate my lifestyle and share what I've learned with those back home. Thank you and keep up the great work!

We had a wonderful tour of Biscayne National Park sponsored by the Institute! The sail boat is set up for 6 people making for a personalized tour. Captain Teri is very knowledgeable and competent making for a great time sailing, snorkeling and paddle-boarding. She handled all the preparations allowing us to relax and enjoy. Strongly recommended!

I booked the Jones Lagoon Eco-Adventure -Paddle Clear, Calm Waters, which not a lot people choose to do. And it turns out to be amazing tour! We do paddling around a keys, and the water is so great and clear there.
My captain is a lady Meredith Bass, she is patient and nice. And she made detailed guide on how to do paddling and also introduced the eco-system around there and the importance to protect the mangroves.
The most exciting part was we bumped a group of dolphins, they were playing and catching fish not far from us. It's the first time I saw dolphins in the wild so close. Thanks Mother of Nature.
I had great time during the tour with Meredith, and I will definitly come back next time when I was in Miami next time.

Perfect day to visit Biscayne NP. Here’s how it went: arrived at Dante Fascell VC to check in at designated time. The boat is right there at the VC. About 40 people on a boat, which is 2/3 under a cover if you need sun protection. A naturalist is with you to talk about the park as you take a 40-45 minute ride out to the key. The water on our day was pretty calm, not sure if it’s usually that way. There’s spray if you sit toward the bow—the kids on board loved that. Once arriving at the key, you have about 1 to 1.25 hours of your own time. Optional to hear the naturalist talk about the lighthouse and go in it. We had brought along our snorkel stuff so skipped the lighthouse. There’s a little beach, not too much to see when snorkeling but we did see cushion sea stars, and the water was nice. There’s a little walking trail. Bring your own drinks and snacks, if you’d like. There are picnic tables and bathrooms. Super easy and relaxing excursion. Good for all ages and abilities. We had families with little kids, teens, adults and senior adults on our trip. I think we arrived back around 1:00 or so. I was on vacation so I wasn’t looking at my watch! Fun time!

This kayaking experience in Biscayne National Park's Jones Lagoon with Captain Teri could not have been better. It was an absolutely idyllic experience. I believe the tour accommodates six people, but somehow we lucked out and were the only two who showed up. They could have cancelled on us, but they didn't and we had a truly magical time.

Captain Teri is friendly and knowledgeable. I'm a science nerd, and a big talker, so I asked all kinds of questions about Biscayne, it's wildlife, and the mangroves. Teri answered all of my queries with energy and enthusiasm. She provided several up-close encounters with various sea creatures and treated us to the route less traveled through the wild mangroves. Terri made the entire tour beyond wonderful for us. It's obvious that she loves what she does, and that makes for a great experience for those who tour with her.

I very strongly recommend this 3+ hour tour. I didn't want it to end, and would have gladly paid a second time if we could have extended the experience.

Take this tour, and ask for Captain Teri when you do!

We had a great Eco Paddle trip today. Perfect weather and Cassell was a super guide. Mangrove channels were awesome to paddle through. We were unable to snorkel due to weather conditions, but Cassell was honest that is wasn't worth it. He ensured our rentals of wetsuits and snorkels was refunded. Will return in summer to snorkel the reef for sure

We booked the 6 hour sail/paddle trip and had a blast. We were pleased they could accommodate us for a Saturday morning trip, despite booking Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. Check in was straightforward and easy, and the trip was wonderful - our captain, James, was knowledgeable and safety conscious and we had the best time out on the water all day. Highly recommend!

The gal in the gift shop was very helpful as we were unsure in planning this tour, considering weather, etc. As for the waring about mosquitos...yes, bring bug repellent. Not needed once you are on the tour, but in the morning while sitting and waiting for the tour to begin, the mosquitoes were plentiful!! Even waiting for us in our car when we returned hours later. For the tour, "Hans" took 6 of us to Jones Lagoon. One couple used a kayak, the remaining 4 of us, used the stand up paddle boards, altho, i sat the whole time, as this was my very first time on a paddle board. Hans had lots of information as to the wildlife in the area. He led us through the mangroves to see all kinds of fish, sharks, jellyfish, starfish, etc. He also relayed the history of Biscayne National Park and how it all came to be what it is today. We never felt rushed, and he was open to all kinds of questions. Having perfect weather, it made for a wonderful experience.
