I have visited BSF multiple times and hope to continue to go for the rest of my days.. There are ethereal hikes that make you feel you have walked into another world. Magnificent views, waterways, waterfalls and geologic formations. Fascinating Indian history, old homesteads, and bridges. Lots of outdoor activities: hike, climb, camp or go rafting. Not as busy as... More

We were going for a ride because I have a Passport Book to the National Parks and this seemed like a fun day-trip. First, I researched the website and the Big South Park information sites. Apparently, I did not do a good job! Husband and I figured we'd ride around, hike a few short trails and see the sights. It... More

Great way to spend the day. Bring some food to cookout on one of the grills that are available or pack a picnic. Go for a swim, canoe, tubing or fishing. Miles of trails.

We were there over the Fourth of July weekend, and were pleasantly surprised at how quiet and uncrowded everything was. As our time was limited, we were only in the Kentucky portion of the park. We only had time to see a couple of the overlooks and the Blue Heron Mining Camp, but our favorite spot was the trail behind... More

Many different things to do here. Just a chill day swimming at the river, maybe a picnic and there is camping, hiking and horseback riding -- to name a few. The park is beautiful!

We spent a few days in this area and still left lots of places to be visited next time. We stayed at a friend’s cabin in the Spruce Creek Acres area. From there we decided to go to the Bandy Creek Visitor Center and to get some information and maps to explore. The Rangers were really helpful and friendly. Both... More

Loooong drive to get there. We really enjoy the national parks, but for us this was fair. After finally getting there, the ranger was not particularly happy to see us. (It was 1.5 hours before closing) There was no film, which was disappointing, however they hope to get one in August. It would be a beautiful place to camp and... More

beautiful place to relax and enjoy all God has created. Plenty to do, with great places close by. You could easily spend several weeks and not see it all.

So much to do, not enough time! That’s the only way to describe our time in Big South Fork! At every turn, there is something that leaves you speechless and filled with wonder. The views are spectacular and plenty, as there are dozens of pull-offs and overlooks! Or first was magnificent, with bends in the waterways, wrapping around cliffsides! A... More
