Short, easy trail through mountains with interesting geologic forms and strata to a (usually) dry waterfall. For me, the journey was fully as interesting as the destination. If you are there at the right time of year, you will also see beautiful cactus flowers. Spur...More

A pretty easy trail to see a geologic feature but hardly any shade on the trail. So choose your time well to hike this trail. The trail starts pretty flat with nice scenic mountain views before it dips somewhat to creek level. Then the trail...More

We did this short hike around 11:30 and it was an easy trail but very hot. The pouroff was pretty cool. The trail was very well marked and completely flat.

The hardest part of this hike is the dry river bed we needed to maneuver down. It is tiresome to walk on the gravel in a riverbed, similar to a soft sandy beach. The trail ends at the bottom of the dramatic Burro Mesa Pour-off....More

Great views without too long of hiking. Great cliffs for teenagers to climb (scary without harnesses) Zen little area at the end.

The trail starts from the end of Burro Mesa Spur Road, which is around 12 mi on the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. The trail is 0.5 mi/0.8 km one-way and is relatively flat. We visited on a Tuesday morning in April and were the only...More

We love waterfalls and this was not a disappointment. The hike is very easy and, like all all the other hikes in Big Bend National Park, there are different wildflowers blooming. It is amazing to see the power of water and what it can do....More
