The hike is across flat open desert for more than a mile to a beautiful canyon. TAKE WATER. The trails are marked my cairns. Very little elevation gain. Small, but beautiful canyon.

What a site to see! So many different areas within the park. I went for two days and have to go back to experience the rest. The border divided by The Rio Grande was so impressive that I was left in awe and left me...More

After around a two mile walk across desert, you get to an interesting narrow canyon. You can walk clear through to the other end. Saw a few jackrabbits with huge ears when crossing the desert.

Dog Canyon is located a few miles from the North visitor's center and the parking area is well signed. It is approximately 2 miles straight across the desert with no obstacles. There is a well defined trail. If it has rained recently, which is not...More
