Great hike with fantastic view at the end (the window). Also, near the end of the trail is an offshoot trail (to the left on the return trip) that is well worth taking for more views and a hike along the rim. It is a...More

We were pleasantly surprised at the landscape as we hiked down into the low areas. It reminded us of the hill country. Lots of trees and birds singing along the way.

Great views! It was a short walk, 0.4 mile on paved walkway so great for handicap people. The visit center was small but ok.

We stayed 2 nights at Chisos Mountain Lodge which itself provides an excellent view of "The Window". We also took this easy trail about a half mile to an even better view. The sunset is gorgeous looking through the Window.

So, I didn't take the long Windows hike. We strolled the Window View hike, which is .3 miles & paved. It has some information boards & at the window view a couple of benches with a small gazebo type thing. We had hiked the Lost...More

In the past I've been to Big Bend three times, and it is an awesome park. All three times I stayed for a week, and I can assure you it wasn't long enough. I actually think I could live there! Recent photos from a nephew...More

The view at the end is the goal of this trail - and the wind howling up through the window over rock that has been worn glass smooth by the sand and grit in the wind. Makes for a very scary edging towards the edge...More

This is the prime scenic attraction in the Basin area in Big Bend National Park. A short paved trail from the Chisos Mountain lodge parking area leads to two spots for viewing the Window in the mountains surrounding the basin. Best views are when there...More

This feature is located in the basin area of the park and is close to the "lodge" where we stayed. There is an observation point that is very accessible on a pave path. A great place to take photos.

Right after breakfast we dashed around the paved walk way of the window trail which takes all of 15 minutes. The view is very nice and it's easy for anyone to walk the path.

No. Sorry just seeing this. Too many ways for a dog to get hurt. Also everywhere are warnings about bears and mountain lions. We have a hiking dog but I would never take her to being bend!
