Enjoyed the trail. Did the 9.6 version ,not the full 12 miles. Saw variety of scenery. Read that there were bryce like spires, found that to be a little deceiving. For the long mileage found windows and lost mine to be more spectacular

Really enjoyed the diversity on this hike, which stitches together the Pinnacles, Boot Canyon, and Laguna Meadows trails. (Add Emory Peak for an additional 3-mile up-and-down-again spur.) Total distance 12+ miles. We started with the Pinnacles so as to get the steepest part out of the way on the up instead of the down. Lots of shade on our visit.... More

This is NOT a strenuous hike, just a LONG one. The viewpoints are incredible, but when we went, the vegetation was all dry. So the scenery wasnt all that awe-inspiring. That said, the hike isnt bad for people with knee issues since the elevation gain is slow. We took the Laguna meadow-South Rim-Boot-Pinnacles route as suggested by the lodge folks.... More

Long difficult climb and well worth it. Rewarded with spectacular views of 2000' drop-offs. Must be physically fit!

Don't miss this hike! The trails are clear and easy to navigate. They have plenty of switch backs to make it easy. Most all hikers can make this journey.

Fantastic long hike. Go visit the rangers in the information center before heading up to make sure all the trails are open. (North rim sometimes is closed due to nesting) The view at the head of the South Rim is the best in Big Bend. A must do hike of you are in the park!

This was my favorite trail - a real highlight of the mountains. We went up and down via the Laguna Meadow trail, and then walked the loop of South Rim Trail, Boot Canyon Trail and Colman Trail. It was a very varied walk, some forest, little meadows, along a creek.. the scenery seem to be constantly changing. The views on... More

This is a long (we measured about 13 miles) hike through scenery that's like most of the other hikes you will do in Big Bend. There is a bit of a climb to get up and out of Chisos Basin, and the walk through Boot Canyon was reasonably flat. The overlook view at the end is very nice; you find... More

Very memorable hike with never ending views on the rim for at least 15 minutes. Worth the 4-5 miles to get there. Hike would be a real bear in hot weather.
